that also outlines the differences in content, assessment or other activities which are used to
distinguish the two units.

We welcome your feedback as one way to keep improving this unit. Later this semester, you will be

http://evaluate.curtin.edu.au). Recent changes to this unit in response to student feedback through
eVALUate include:
1. [insert changes here as applicable, otherwise delete.]

Student Rights and Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of every student to be aware of all relevant legislation and
policies and procedures relating to their rights and responsibilities as a student. These
include:
 the Student Charter
 the University’s Guiding Ethical Principles
 the University’s policy and statements on plagiarism and academic integrity
 copyright principles and responsibilities
 the University’s policies on appropriate use of software and computer facilities
Information is available through the University's “Student Rights and Responsibilities” web page:
http://students.curtin.edu.au/rights/
These headings are recommended but not compulsory; academic
staff can develop and amend them as required to suit their
individual needs, so long as the policy requirements for information
to students are met. Please refer to the Unit Outlines Guidance
document for more information on how to arrange information
within these headings.
Staff must also include in unit outlines any material such as
departmental policies, or individual requirements on students that
they wish to rely upon in managing student learning
Introduction
Introduce the unit, stating any aims, objectives, and outlining scope
of the unit while making an initial connection with students.
Learning Outcomes
Create the basic structure of the unit, using the statements of
outcomes to make clear the key abilities and knowledges students
will learn.
Content and Activities
Give detailed information to students about the content of the unit
and their classes and/or other learning activities
Page 3 of 5
[Unit Name] Unit Outline
Reading and Resources
List all the texts, readings study guides and other physical
equipment/resources students will need to study successfully; refer
students to ereserve, ilectures, Blackboard or other electronic
materials.
Assessment
Make clear all requirements, both for the unit and for each
assignment so students know what is required of them to complete
the unit successfully. Think carefully about how assessment will
demonstrate learning outcomes.
Late Assessment
Students are expected to submit each assessment on or before the due deadline date. Failure to do
so will result in a 10% penalty per calendar day (eg 10% per day off the ‘total’ marks available – an
assignment worth 25 marks will lose 2.5 marks every day it is late). An assignment more than 7
days overdue will not be marked.
The Late Assessment Guidelines and Request for Extension form are available online, please
see http://humanities.curtin.edu.au/current_students/late_assessment.cfm

Plagiarism Monitoring (include this section if it applies)
Some (or all) assessments in this unit will be monitored for plagiarism using Turnitin plagiarism

http://academicintegrity.curtin.edu.au/studentsturnitin.html.
