TEACHERS REQUIREMENTS
As a called vessel of God to share the Word of God within this local assembly, Teachers &
Facilitators are requested to agree and commit to the Teachers’ Requirements & Responsibilities.
The Edification Cornerstone is committed to sharing and coaching Teachers/Facilitators in the
methodology to enhance your ability to study the Word of God and teach it with confidence.
The Edification Teachers’ Training Ministry is committed to providing you with the best tools
and methods to discover God’s Word at a deeper level. Teachers/Facilitators are requested to do
the same and give the best of your service to this ministry. The expectation is that as you spend
the time studying God’s Word and practicing the use of the tools and methodology provided, you
will grow and God will get the glory.
We offer a 6 Month Training Program for new teachers twice annually beginning in January and
in July. The pre-requisite to participate in the 6 month Teachers’ Training Program is a CE
Certification demonstrating a minimal of 3 years of actively participating in CE and/or 3 years of
proven Christian teaching experience at another Church (with Pastor’s letter of certification),
and/or call to the preaching ministry. Participants successfully completing the 6 month Training
Program intern for 6 months under the mentorship of a seasoned Teacher prior to being assigned
to a Rock of Ages teaching opportunity.
Members desiring to teach that do not meet the pre-requisite requirement, must successfully
complete 1 year of Teachers’ Training and intern for 1 year under the mentorship of a seasoned
Teacher prior to being assigned to a Rock of Ages teaching opportunity.
Tenure Teachers are required to attend Quarterly Teachers’ Training Workshops to ensure they
remain aware of new teaching resources and tools to enrich their Bible teaching and study.
Qualifications

Born again Christian.

Understanding of and adherence to ROABC doctrinal position.

Completion of ROABC membership courses
o Foundations of Faith
o Shape

Attend and successfully complete Teachers’ Training assignments.

Teachers in training and tenure teachers must attend weekly Christian Education classes,
either in Maywood or Bolingbrook.

All teachers in training and tenure teachers must attend weekly worship services.

Commit to prayer for our Pastor, Church, Edification Ministry, and the students that will
attend your class.

Follow and adhere to the the Teacher Guidelines.
Teaching Guidelines
Guidelines are subject to change at the discretion of the Edification Cornerstone Leaders.
1. When teaching a class;
a. Prepare each lesson according to the Course Development Process established by
the Christian Education Ministry
b. Outlines must be completed and forwarded to the designated Coordinator
/Assistant & Administrative Assistant 1 week prior to teaching the lesson.
i. Note: There are different coordinators for each area of study
2. Explain to your students that the outline will be forwarded to them via email prior to
class. ( If they want to have a hardcopy of the outline they can print them or view them
via their media device)
a. Remind students to provide their email addresses to the admin team.
3. Be in class prepared and ready to greet the students 15-20 minutes prior to the class start
time
a. On Tuesday Night teachers are asked to meet the coordinators in the Great Room
(2nd of SG&DB) at 6:45 pm for prayer.
4. Understand and be able to share the plan of salvation with unbelievers and be prepared to
lead the students to a saving faith in Jesus, the Christ.
5. In case of emergency or absence, please contact your Coordinator /Assistant &
Administrative Assistant at your earliest convenience
a. If possible a completed outline should be forwarded to the coordinator
b. If you’ve selected a teacher to cover for you on that night please inform the
Coordinator ASAP.
