BNA and MLA partner with Ex Libris to boost discoverability of content through Primo Central

Ex Libris Group has announced that the United States Bureau of National Affairs (BNA) and the
Modern Language Association of America (MLA) have joined the rapidly expanding group of
information providers that enable the Primo Central Index of scholarly content to cover their
collections. Offered as a cloud-based service, the Primo Central Index covers hundreds of millions of
scholarly resources from leading information providers.

Royal Society of Chemistry adds RDF functionality to ChemSpider database
The Royal Society of Chemistry's chemical database ChemSpider has added RDF functionality to its
interface, in collaboration with the University of Southampton's School of Chemistry. The
availability of RDF is said to allow the database records to be found and understood by semantic
web tools.

Springer in deal with Dai Nippon Printing for POD solutions in Japan
STM publisher Springer has announced an agreement with Japan-based Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd.
(DNP). Under the deal, DNP will provide single-copy minimum print-on-demand (POD) solutions for
Springer titles delivered to the Japanese market.

American Psychological Association adopts DataSalon's MasterVision
The American Psychological Association (APA) has announced that it has adopted DataSalon's
MasterVision product in order to integrate and better utilise customer information from different
data sources. The system integrates institutional electronic and print subscribers, and data relating

Springer and TEMIS extend partnership on semantic analysis of scientific content
STM publisher Springer Science+Business Media and TEMIS have agreed on a broad extension of their
strategic collaboration on semantic enrichment and linking of content for the SpringerLink platform.
SpringerLink claims to be one of the world's largest distribution platforms for scientific eBooks and
eJournals.

Elsevier and METI partner to integrate nursing education content and solutions with human
patient simulators

STM publisher Elsevier has announced a partnership agreement with Medical Education
Technologies, Inc. (METI), a manufacturer of medical simulation and healthcare learning
technologies. The companies will collaborate to release a turn-key healthcare education product
that combines Elsevier's nursing education content with METI's human patient simulators.

CAS Registry registers 60 millionth substance
CAS has announced that a patent application claiming compounds with potential therapeutic
activity, submitted to China's State Intellectual Property Office, included the 60 millionth substance
recorded in the CAS Registry. The substance was discovered by the Institute of Materia Medica,

Research Corporation, Embrapa, has added more than 470,000 bibliographic records to the OCLC
WorldCat database. The database claims to be the world's largest online resource for finding

Kindle books sales overtake print book sales at Amazon.com
Amazon has announced that it is now selling more Kindle e-books than print books. Since April 1, for
every 100 print books it has sold, it has sold 105 Kindle books. This includes sales of hardcover and

paperback books by Amazon without a Kindle edition.

Google sees substantial rise in number of free titles in electronic bookstore
Google's eBooks electronic bookstore now contains about 3 million free titles, up from 2 million
during its December 2010 launch. The books can be read in the free Google Books Web Reader,
