The training curricula include all the topics required by
CT Department of Public Health Standards. Specific
topics included in the training are as follows:
Background information on lead and its adverse health
effects, information on Federal, State, and local
regulations and guidance that pertain to lead- based
paint abatement, legal and insurance issues relating to
lead-based paint abatement, hazard recognition and
control, respiratory protection and protective clothing,
project management, contract specifications, and Lead
paint abatement or lead hazard reduction including
prohibited methods. Other topics include abatement
and clean up process, outside hazard abatement,
disposal, liability insurance, and role and responsibilities
of a supervisor.

Asbestos Abatement

The training curricula include all the topics required by
CT Department of Public Health Standards. Specific
topics included in the training are as follows: Physical
characteristics of asbestos, and ACM, potential health
effects related to asbestos exposure, personal
protective equipment, and state-of-the-art work
practices: proper work practices for asbestos abatement
activities, including descriptions of proper construction
and maintenance of barriers and decontamination
structures, & personal hygiene: entry and exit
procedures for the work area. Also included are
procedures for medical monitoring, air detecting and
monitoring of asbestos fibers, insurance & liabilities, and
contract specifications, record-keeping.

This course teaches the assessment & remediation of
mold-infected sites. Subject matter includes an
introduction to mold & moisture, the definition of mold,
its detection, allergies, health effects and legal issues.
Using the US EPA Guide to Mold, the course examines
moisture control, assessment, cleanup guidelines,
prevention, control and sampling procedures.

personal protection conclude the course

This course starts with 3 days of classroom instruction in
preparation of a 9-day on-the-job, closely- supervised
experience. The classroom instruction covers an
overview of the objectives of deconstruction and: Job
Site Safety, Tools and Equipment, Overview of Job Site,
Bidding Deconstruction Jobs, Deconstruction Sequence
and Variations, Handling of Debris,
Understanding Layered Materials, Detaching Fixtures
and Preparing for Shipment, Teamwork Strategies,
Loading & Unloading Materials. The 9-day OJT period is
closely supervised; the class is divided into teams of 6-8
students working in shifts. There are daily quizzes and
exercises.
For those 10 of those who successfully completed
“Building Deconstruction” and have a interest and
aptitude for crew leadership, this course provides
techniques in leadership, organization of a crew,
extensive bidding and job analysis; classifying,
evaluating and pricing deconstructed materials, logistics
and shipping.

Deconstructed Materials

For 10 of those students who successfully completed
“Building Deconstruction” and have an interest and
aptitude for commercial and retail operations, this
course provides instruction on the management of a
deconstruction warehouse that presents a wide range of
deconstructed materials to private and industry
customers. The course includes selection and display of
materials, outfitting warehouse space, sales, accounting,
managing a warehouse team, equipment and work
space needed. Specific topics include: Warehouse
Administration, Customer Experience, Advertising and
Promotion, Receiving, Safety and Maintenance,
Warehouse Layout Organization and Display, Inventory
Control, Knowledge of Materials.
