To whom it may concern,
My name is Jessica Meier, I am a 28 year old Canadian citizen. I am
eagerly seeking full time employment and sponsorship at a
professional, quality, childcare setting in Australia. I am looking to
broaden my experience as an Early Childhood Educator and in life by
living in a different country. I had spent 2 months in Australia in 2010
and fell in love with the culture, wildlife and people, Australia felt like a
home away from home.
I graduated with my diploma in Early Childhood Education and
Special Needs training in May of 2008 and have been in the field ever
since. As part of the program we looked in-depth at Licensing
Regulations, Occupational Standards, Rights of the Child, Code of
Ethics and Early Years Learning Framework. Having my special
needs training included learning about specific disorders and
disabilities such as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, Autism, Down
Syndrome and ways to create an inclusive environment for all
children. I have had practice filling out assessment tools and
screening information to be used by the Child Development Centre to
assist in getting children support from Speech-Language Pathologists,
Occupational Therapists, Behavior Specialists and Physiotherapists
as well as being a part of transdisciplinary meetings. I have had the
opportunity to work with all age groups in a daycare setting as well as
a preschool program and I work hard at creating partnerships with the
parents and co-workers creating a team environment that is essential
in caring holistically for children.
I am a very motivated individual who gives 110% energy into work
believing in early childhood education as a preventative measure to
help the next generation grow up with a strong self-esteem, coping
and critical thinking skills. I am very aware at how environment plays
a role in teaching and set the stage for positive interactions. I strive to
incorporate each child’s needs into planning and guidance of
behavior. Successful early years help build a strong foundation
children need to grow up to be productive positive members of our
communities so allowing them to learn and grow in a nurturing,
supportive, and safe environment is my main goal in providing child
care. Building healthy attachments with each child, acknowledging
their feelings, and encouraging them to risk in their own learning are
skills I have learned that makes me an excellent caregiver.
I am very self-directed and work well within a team. Everyone is
unique in their interactions and ideas and I enjoy hearing different
perspectives on planning and goal setting for individual children. I
strongly believe that learning is life long and would love to participate
in one of your Goodstart Early Learning Programs. The information I
have read on your website mirrors my own philosophy and morals
and would be an honor to be a part of your organization. I am familiar
with the Early Years Learning Framework and am very eager to utilize
all the programs and services that your country has to offer to help
children.
