Weather is expected to be seasonal for the North Country with temperature ranging from the 30s at night to the 40s-60s during the day. Slight chance of rain or snow flurries exists throughout the training period. c. Friendly Forces. (1) Training Audience. Battle Roster numbers project personnel of Military Science I, II, III, and IV Cadets from Syracuse University are: MS Is MS IIs MS IIIs 29 21 26 (Note: See ANNEX A for Battle Roster) MS IVs 15 Total 91 2. MISSION. Syracuse University Army ROTC battalion conducts Field Training Exercise at Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA on Training Area C-5, M 16 Zero and Qualification Ranges, Obstacle Course, Rappel Tower, and FLRC Course during 14-17APR2007 to provide leadership opportunities for MS IV Cadets, prepare MS III Cadets for Leadership Development and Assessment Course and for MS I and II Cadets to experience challenging & team building training as part of Basic Course. 3. EXECUTION Intent: Provide leadership opportunities for MS IV Cadets that will continue to mentor and prepare them to be commissioned Second Lieutenants. Properly prepare MS III Cadets for the Summer 2007 Fort Lewis Leadership Development and Assessment Course by training and evaluating them to standard in tactical leadership positions. Provide dynamic training experience for Basic Course Cadets to enhance retention and increase training proficiency. Integrate all training, logistical, and administrative activities to the maximum extent possible to optimize resources and to accurately replicate the LDAC experience. Operation will be executed in four phases: predeployment phase, execution, re-deployment, and after action review (AAR) phase. (1) Pre-deployment Phase. Prior to deployment, MS I-III Cadets conduct Pre-Combat Inspections [PCI] on 12APR to ensure equipment readiness. At PCIs, Ruck Sacks must be prepared for the field as there will be no access to A Bags for the first iteration of training. (2) Execution Phase. Stalwart BN will use committee approach along with Cornell University AROTC program to conduct integrated training of MS I, MS II, and MS III Cadets in selected LDAC operations. All Cadets will conduct Rappelling, Basic Rifle Marksmanship (BRM), Squad STX lanes, Patrolling Lanes, and FLRC Lanes. Also, Static Load Training and Air operations will be conducted by specified contracted Cadets. Training features a combination of special training for each Military Science level and collective training of MS III Cadets in Squad STX. Consolidated training schedules below: (a) 14 APR 2007, All Cadets will conduct two iterations (2 hour) of STX Lanes in Training Area C-5 as well as Patrol Base operations in 4 sections. Syracuse and Cornell Cadets will be integrated into squads and will conduct operations as such throughout the duration of the FTX. MSIII Cadets will be evaluated in leadership positions. (b) 15 APR 2007, All Cadets will conduct two iterations of STX Lanes (2 Hour), 2 iterations (3 Hour) of Patrolling Lanes, and Patrol Base Operations. Structure will generally maintain a similar structure to 14 APR with change on 3 Hour iterations of Patrolling Lanes. Movement to Garrison for operations. (c) 16 APR 2007, All Cadets will conduct PMI/BRM classes/operations at the FIG Zero and Qualification Ranges. Classes will consist of 4 fundamentals, SPORTS, dime/washer drills, shadow box drills, loading and unloading of the M16A2 rifle, proper range procedures, and safety. Cadets will also conduct Obstacle Course, Rappelling, and Concurrent Class training. Weapons Maintenance will occur at the end of the training day. (d) 17 APR 2007, All Cadets will conduct FLRC Lanes at FIG course in accordance with Cornell University plan. Syracuse MS IVs will move to Gettysburg for Staff Ride. (3) Redeployment Phase. All site CICs and COC responsible for ensuring all Cadets are accounted for prior to movement from any training site. Equipment checks and shakedowns will be conducted prior to any movement from training site. Ensure closer report is submitted. Status cards for sensitive items should be employed by Squad Leaders and COC. (4) After Action Report Phase. We will conduct an AAR at home station after the FTX is completed. The AAR Lab is scheduled to take place 26 APR 2007. All site CICs will prepare a AAR notes for their events. They have requested one SU Cadre Member for Commo on the FLRC Lanes, but may be subject to change. 4) SQD STX/Patrolling committee (see ANNEX C) (a) Set up eight SQD STX lanes in Training Area C-5 on 13 APR 07 with ADVON party. (b) Coordinate with S-4 to ensure all necessary equipment is present for training (See ANNEX B) (c) OPFOR uniform for STX lanes is BDU pants, a dark top, and provided weapon (AK-47/RPGs) (d) MSG Martinez will serve as CLS personnel on site (e) Accountability throughout training will be maintained through the TOC (See ANNEX A) (5) Cadet S1: (a) Coordinate and publish Battle Roster for all Cadets for the duration of the FTX. (b) Coordinate for Movement Plan and Load Manifest. (6) Cadet S3: (a) Coordinate for Cadet (MS IV) support for all events. Units will resource medical support requirements from internal assets (i.e., certified medic w/aid bag) to maximum extent possible. Units will coordinate through TOC for external support requirements. All CICs and Cadre will be familiar with emergency route to local area hospitals from each training site. There will be a vehicle designated to perform evacuation duties as an ambulance at each training site. b. Safety. Safety briefings will be given at the beginning of every training event. Each event CIC is responsible for reviewing the risk assessment worksheets for their respective training events. The S3 Shop will complete Risk Assessments. Cadre and MS IV cadets must enforce safety at all times in accordance with regulations and common sense. Event OIC/CICs and safety officers are responsible for familiarizing themselves with appropriate event regulations (available in Office). MLS 402 Cadets from Syracuse University will accomplish the pre-commissioning task of a Staff Ride on 17 Apr 07 at Gettysburg. This Staff Ride will be conducted on the last day of the Battalion FTX, to be held at Fort Indiantown Gap (FIG), PA, on 14-17 April 07. 2. Cadets will be assigned roles for review, study, and report. While on site, assigned cadets will ensure they are familiar with their assigned role and what they did during each phase (day) of the battle. Additionally cadets will be expected to be able to talk about the background of their character, their actions on the battlefield, and their analysis of those actions in the context of the Principles of War. 3.
