1. SITUATION
a. Enemy Forces. Not Applicable
b. Weather/Terrain. Weather is expected to be seasonal for the North Country
with temperature ranging from the 30s at night to the 40s-60s during the day.
Slight chance of rain or snow flurries exists throughout the training period.
c. Friendly Forces.

2. MISSION. Syracuse University Army ROTC battalion conducts Field Training
Exercise at Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA on Training Area C-5, M 16 Zero and Qualification
Ranges, Obstacle Course, Rappel Tower, and FLRC Course during 14-17APR2007 to
provide leadership opportunities for MS IV Cadets, prepare MS III Cadets for
Leadership Development and Assessment Course and for MS I and II Cadets to
experience challenging & team building training as part of Basic Course.
3. EXECUTION
Intent: Provide leadership opportunities for MS IV Cadets that will continue to
mentor and prepare them to be commissioned Second Lieutenants. Properly prepare
MS III Cadets for the Summer 2007 Fort Lewis Leadership Development and
Assessment Course by training and evaluating them to standard in tactical leadership
positions. Provide dynamic training experience for Basic Course Cadets to enhance
retention and increase training proficiency. Integrate all training, logistical, and
administrative activities to the maximum extent possible to optimize resources and to
accurately replicate the LDAC experience.

a. Concept of Operation. Operation will be executed in four phases: predeployment phase, execution, re-deployment, and after action review (AAR)
phase.
(1) Pre-deployment Phase. Prior to deployment, MS I-III Cadets conduct
Pre-Combat Inspections [PCI] on 12APR to ensure equipment readiness. At
PCIs, Ruck Sacks must be prepared for the field as there will be no access to A
Bags for the first iteration of training.
(2) Execution Phase. Stalwart BN will use committee approach along with
Cornell University AROTC program to conduct integrated training of MS I, MS
II, and MS III Cadets in selected LDAC operations. All Cadets will conduct
Rappelling, Basic Rifle Marksmanship (BRM), Squad STX lanes, Patrolling
Lanes, and FLRC Lanes. Also, Static Load Training and Air operations will be
conducted by specified contracted Cadets. Training features a combination of
special training for each Military Science level and collective training of MS III
Cadets in Squad STX. Consolidated training schedules below:
(a) 14 APR 2007, All Cadets will conduct two iterations (2 hour) of STX
Lanes in Training Area C-5 as well as Patrol Base operations in 4 sections.
Syracuse and Cornell Cadets will be integrated into squads and will conduct
operations as such throughout the duration of the FTX. MSIII Cadets will be
evaluated in leadership positions.
(b) 15 APR 2007, All Cadets will conduct two iterations of STX Lanes (2
Hour), 2 iterations (3 Hour) of Patrolling Lanes, and Patrol Base Operations.
Structure will generally maintain a similar structure to 14 APR with change on 3
Hour iterations of Patrolling Lanes. Movement to Garrison for operations.
(c) 16 APR 2007, All Cadets will conduct PMI/BRM classes/operations at
the FIG Zero and Qualification Ranges. Classes will consist of 4 fundamentals,
SPORTS, dime/washer drills, shadow box drills, loading and unloading of the
M16A2 rifle, proper range procedures, and safety. Cadets will also conduct
Obstacle Course, Rappelling, and Concurrent Class training. Weapons
Maintenance will occur at the end of the training day.
(d) 17 APR 2007, All Cadets will conduct FLRC Lanes at FIG course in
accordance with Cornell University plan. Syracuse MS IVs will move to
Gettysburg for Staff Ride.
(3) Redeployment Phase. All site CICs and COC responsible for ensuring
all Cadets are accounted for prior to movement from any training site.
Equipment checks and shakedowns will be conducted prior to any movement
from training site. Ensure closer report is submitted. Status cards for sensitive
items should be employed by Squad Leaders and COC.
(4) After Action Report Phase. We will conduct an AAR at home station
after the FTX is completed. The AAR Lab is scheduled to take place 26 APR
2007. All site CICs will prepare a AAR notes for their events.

this section of training. They have requested one SU Cadre Member for Commo on
the FLRC Lanes, but may be subject to change.
4) SQD STX/Patrolling committee (see ANNEX C)
(a) Set up eight SQD STX lanes in Training Area C-5 on 13 APR 07 with
ADVON party.
(b) Coordinate with S-4 to ensure all necessary equipment is present for
training (See ANNEX B)
(c) OPFOR uniform for STX lanes is BDU pants, a dark top, and
provided weapon (AK-47/RPGs)
(d) MSG Martinez will serve as CLS personnel on site
(e) Accountability throughout training will be maintained through the
TOC (See ANNEX A)
(5) Cadet S1:
(a) Coordinate and publish Battle Roster for all Cadets for the duration
of the FTX.
(b) Coordinate for Movement Plan and Load Manifest.
(6) Cadet S3:
(a) Coordinate for Cadet (MS IV) support for all events. Ensure Cadet
Anyanwu, Cadet Roberts, and Cadet Rabbia are slotted as MS IIIs for all
events during the FTX.

OIC/CIC for accountability

(4) Class VII. Cadets will provide and secure own M16A2 rifles for all
phases of training. Weapons security is both an individual and collective
responsibility. Assigned weapons, radios, blank adaptors, and compasses will
remain in the physical possession of each individual and will be “dummy
corded” for tactical training. 60 M-16A2 rifles will be on hand for BRM training.
The Cadet XO will ensure that weapons are accounted for before, during, and
after all training events. Weapons status will be tracked at the BN TOC.
(5) Class VIII/Medical Support. Units will resource medical support
requirements from internal assets (i.e., certified medic w/aid bag) to maximum
extent possible. Units will coordinate through TOC for external support
requirements. All CICs and Cadre will be familiar with emergency route to local
area hospitals from each training site. There will be a vehicle designated to
perform evacuation duties as an ambulance at each training site.

6. Safety. Safety briefings will be given at the beginning of every training event.
Each event CIC is responsible for reviewing the risk assessment worksheets for their
respective training events. The S3 Shop will complete Risk Assessments. Cadre and
MS IV cadets must enforce safety at all times in accordance with regulations and
common sense. Event OIC/CICs and safety officers are responsible for familiarizing
themselves with appropriate event regulations (available in Office). Event OIC/CICs
and safety officers are responsible for ensuring that their event personnel are properly
trained and certified to conduct assigned training. Only Cadre are authorized to handle
pyrotechnics and drive GSA or tactical vehicles.

ANNEX B- EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS AND LOGISTICS
1. GENERAL
This annex provides CSS for units assigned or attached to Syracuse University Army
ROTC. CSS operations will be conducted per SU Army ROTC SOP except as specified in
this annex.
2. MATERIALS AND SERVICES
a. Supply.
(1) Class I. All units will deploy with 1 MRE and 1 box lunch. Supply
point distribution of MRE and box lunch from universal supply point
at Archbold Gymnasium. Also distributed from supply point @ FIG.
(2) Class II. Supply point distribution from universal supply point prior
to SP.
(3) Class III. All class III will be procured from civilian fill stations
(Class III supply point) with government fuel cards.
(4) Class IV. Submit request through civilian supply logistician.
(5) Class V. Class V basic load will be issued on arrival in FIG. 7,000
rounds supplied by Syracuse University.
(6) Class VI. All units will deploy with basic person hygiene items and
sundry items packed. Additional items will be located at the onsite
supply point.
(7) Class VII. NA. Cite MTOE authority.
(8) Class VIII. Area support provided by ___ Area Spt Med Bn vic
___________.
(9) Class IX. NA. Cite MTOE authority.
(10) Class X. NA.
(11) Water. Obtain potable water from water point vic ____________
(Class I supply point). Also available at lane SP.

DISTRIBUTION METHODS
a. Class I.
(1) 14 APR 07 - 1 MRE will be distributed before SP-ing from Syracuse
University. It will be field stripped and placed in soldier’s rucks. 1
box lunch will be distributed for breakfast and will be consumed
prior to SP-ing Syracuse University. Also BFA’s will be issued at
the same time. Dinner will be mermite chow and at that time cadets
will be issued 2 MRE’s for breakfast and lunch on 15 APR 07.
Mermite chow will be picked up from DFAC @ 2000 and distributed
at the TOC.
(2) 15 APR 07 – Breakfast and lunch, MRE’s (See above). Dinner will
be in the base DFAC.

(3) 16 APR 07 – Breakfast and Dinner in DFAC. MRE for lunch issued
at breakfast chow.
(4) 17 APR 07 – Breakfast in DFAC. Box Lunch issued at breakfast

b. Class V.
(1) 14 APR 07 – Basic load of 40 rounds/Cadet will be issued upon
arrival at FIG to the Squad Leader. Weapons issue will be conducted
at the same time. Weapons will be color coded with colored toe tags
by squad and each soldier will be issued a weapons card to turn in
when issued the weapon. The squad leader will carry squad weapons
card until issue occurs. Each squad leader will also keep track of the
weapons serial numbers of their squad.
(2) 15 APR 07 – Excess class V will be turned in before returning to
garrison.
(3) 16 APR 07 – Weapons will be turned in upon completion of
maintenance.
4. MAINTENANCE
(1) 16 APR 07 – Weapons maintenance will be conducted after dinner
chow. Weapons will be inspected by cadre and S-4 before turn-in.

SITUATION:
A. Enemy
Scouts have encountered fire team size enemy patrols to our front of 2-4 men lightly
armed who have conducted hit and run ambushes against the Scouts. The enemy will
fight if engaged.
B. Friendly
Forces
(1) Higher Unit: A Company conducts movement to contact oriented on OBJ JACKRABBIT
(UK 6084/7838) NLT (H+55) to regain contact with enemy.
(2) 1st PLT, A Company is the main effort along AXIS RED.
(3) Rear Unit Mission: 3rd PLT, A Company, is the rear guard.
MISSION:
EXECUTION:
A. Concept
(1) Maneuver
1st PLT conducts movement to contact oriented on OBJ JACKRABBIT vic. UK 6084/7838 NLT
(H+55) to regain contact with the enemy.
The Plt is the Advance guard of a company approach march. The platoon will move in
wedge formation, traveling overwatch with 1st sqd as lead squad, 2nd sqd on right, 3rd
sqd on left. Once contact is made and the size of the enemy determined, the lead
squad will either attack to destroy the enemy and be prepared to suppress the enemy
so the platoon can maneuver.

left. We will move along Route ELF to an assault position, TBD by 1st SQD (METT-T)
50-75 meters from the OBJ. From the Aslt Psn, 1st SQD will attack the site. 2nd SQD
will protect right flank. 3rd SQD reserve and provides rear security.

C. Enemy: Scouts have encountered squad-sized enemy patrols of 6-8 men lightly
armed who have conducted hit-and-run ambushes against the Scouts. The
enemy will fight if engaged.

will move with 1st PLT as lead PLT, 2nd PLT on right, 3rd PLT on left.
Once contact is made and the size of the enemy determined, the lead squad
will either attack to destroy the enemy and be prepared to suppress the
enemy so the platoon can maneuver.
b. Fires: No arty fires available. 2nd in pri for BN mortars
Tasks to Maneuver Units:
1st PLT, the lead PLT, crosses the LD vic. UK 612/785 NLT

I. Situation:
C. Enemy: Intelligence reports that enemy forces are establishing reinforcements to
back up their main defensive positions. Observation Posts have been set
forward enough to provide indirect fire support before our forces can reach their
main defensive line. Each OP is manned with 3-4 soldiers armed with light
weapons. Morale is estimated as good due to recent support of indirect fire unit
attachments. They will fight to the death if engaged.
D. Friendly:
1. Higher: Syrnell BN conducts search and destroy operations NLT
(H+150) in AO Rebel, IOT locate and destroy enemy Observation
Posts.
2. Left: B Co. conducts MTC in AO Yoda to destroy enemy units to the
left of our position

a. Maneuver: A CO will cross PL Gold NLT H+90 with each PLT moving
along their respective routes. OOM will be 1st PLT followed by 2nd PLT,
with 3rd PLT in the rear. Upon initiation of the attack 1st PLT will destroy
the target enemy OP while 2nd PLT attacks a secondary site vic UK 612 789.
2nd PLT will then pass through 1st PLT to take out the enemy’s main
defensive lines.
b. Fires: BN mortars are available, priority goes to the main effort (A Co.)
G. Tasks to Maneuver Units:
a. 1st PLT, the main effort, crosses PL Gold NLT H+90 and conducts MTC in
AO Rebel NLT H+150 in order to locate and destroy the enemy’s target OP
position. On order, 1 PLT will hold in place to allow 3rd PLT to pass
through their position
b. 2nd PLT crosses PL Gold NLT H+90 and conducts MTC NLT H+150 in
AO Yoda to destroy enemy units to the right of our position. Afterwards 1st
PLT will hold in place to allow 3rd PLT to pass through.
c. 3rd PLT – upon completion of 1st and 2nd PLT attacks will pass between 1st
and 2nd PLT to take out the main defensive lines.

ANNEX J – GETTYSBURG MOI
1. MLS 402 Cadets from Syracuse University will accomplish the pre-commissioning task of a Staff
Ride on 17 Apr 07 at Gettysburg. This Staff Ride will be conducted on the last day of the Battalion
FTX, to be held at Fort Indiantown Gap (FIG), PA, on 14-17 April 07.
2. Cadets will be assigned roles for review, study, and report. While on site, assigned cadets will
ensure they are familiar with their assigned role and what they did during each phase (day) of the
battle. Additionally cadets will be expected to be able to talk about the background of their
character, their actions on the battlefield, and their analysis of those actions in the context of the
Principles of War.

on the buses traveling back to Syracuse. Cadets will retain, and bring one each canteen (filled), their
academic class books, Gettysburg research materials, and other reading material on the van.
6. POV’s are not authorized for the FTX or Staff Ride. All cadets will travel in government-provided
transportation. The only exception is Cadet Groh who will depart from Gettysburg to attend the
George C. Marshall Award Ceremony.
7. The Cadet S5 will coordinate for photographs and article on the Staff Ride. As a minimum, the
Staff Ride photos in the Battalion Hallway will be updated with photographs from this trip NLT 24
