Due Week 2
During this class, you have the opportunity to participate in weekly web conferences. At the beginning of your
course, the professor(s) will provide a list of scheduled web conferences and the URL to access the sessions.
You do not need to download or purchase additional software to participate in the conferences. However, a headset
with microphone and web camera is preferred equipment. For further details, see the information sent to you by the
professor(s) and/or Instructional Associate via email, discussion board, Virtual Office Hours, and/or announcements.
Directions: After reflecting on the attended web conference or listening to the recording of the conference, post
insights gained from the discussion.

Reflection – Web Conference
The Web Conference on Tuesday, July 18, began at 8:00 p.m. Dr. Mason and
Dr. Martin initiated the conference and opened the conference with a taking a look
at this week’s discussion board. The discussion board of week two concerns our
most successful leadership activity and our biggest surprise from this leadership
activity. There were questions about the PLCE (Practice Lamar Competency Exam)
review and about where the review material is located in the course material. It is
important to take the practice exam during this week’s assignment and reflect on the
areas that we need to focus on. It is important that we score 80% on the LCE while
in the master’s program. Scoring 80% on the LCE serves for practice and assists in
passing of the Principal’s Certification Exam. It is a requirement that we take the
LCE in EDLD 5398. There was discussion about the TExES tutorial section of the
coursework. We also discussed the differences in this week’s discussion board and
last week’s discussion board. We discussed the change in the internship
requirements for the assignment this week, since some are having difficulty
scheduling meetings with site supervisor due to summer hours. We took some time
EDLD 5397
Maridale Still – Cohort 16
to discuss action research. We will complete our action research projects in one of
our latter classes. Lamar will assist us if we are interested in trying to publish our
action research projects. Some other universities do not have the action research
requirement, but having this requirement allows for a better understanding of
educational. We also discussed taking the ILD. Dr. Martin clarified about the
timeline and requirement for taking the PLC, the TExES, and the ILD. Now we have
a better understanding of the time and requirements for taking the required exams.
Dr. Mason provided the link for the Admin Google site. It is
https://sites.google.com/site/luedlead/home. Dr. Mason also provided the following
information about submitting our revised internship plan on the PISE form. We
submit this information to Rosie A. Sellers at the following email address:
rosie.sellers@lamar.edu or mail to Lamar University, P.O. Box 10034, Beaumont,
TX, 77710. The phone number the office number: (409) 880-8024 and fax number:
(409) 880-8685. We also discussed confidentiality and the requirements of an
administrator. There are many difficult decisions and requirements of an
administrator. This program helps us gain a better understanding and perspective of
the leadership requirements for handling administrative positions and requirements.
We closed the web conference around 8:45 p.m. with a better understanding of the
course material, exam requirements and assignments.
Week 2 Assignment, Part 2A and 2B: Discussion Board (19 points)

Due Week 2
Directions: Complete the PLCE Review and, in the workspace, write a paragraph summarizing the
areas/competencies where you had difficulty. Include steps you plan to take to prepare for the actual Lamar
Competency Exam. Remember that you must earn a score of 80% or better to be given permission to take the TExES
Principal exam.

I need to practice and study the TExES review material more. I missed questions in Competency 004 dealing
with curriculum issues. I also missed questions in Competency 006 dealing with staffing issues. I need to
work further on these areas. I will continue to take practice exams to study for the PLCE. I feel that this exam
gave me an opportunity to take a look at the format of the exam and practice for the first time taking this
practice test. I would like to practice taking the exam more so that I can score higher. This will give me a
better understanding of the competency areas so that I can be more familiar with the testing material.

Week 2 Assignment, Part 5: Principal Internship Supervisor/Mentor Evaluation (PISE) and/or the
Educational Technology Leadership Internship Supervisor Evaluation (ETLISE)
Due Week 5
Directions:
In Week 5, you will submit a completed Principal Internship Site-Supervisor/Mentor Evaluation (PISE) and/or the
Educational Technology Leadership Internship Supervisor Evaluation . The purpose is to obtain feedback regarding
your current progress in meeting the standards in your internship program campus activities. The candidates in the
Educational Administration program (at a minimum) need to review and address the competencies within the PISE.
Those individuals in the Educational Technology Leadership degree (at a minimum) should complete the ETLISE.
It is up to you to decide how best to complete the form(s) based upon where you are in your program and whether your
site supervisor/mentor is available for dialogue and feedback. It may behoove you to meet with your supervisor/mentor
about the content in the document(s) or you may feel it is more fitting to meet with a colleague or someone you have
worked closely with during your internship to gain feedback regarding the Competencies and/or the Technology
Facilitator Standards. Another option is to complete the form as a self-assessment. Whatever direction you elect to gain
feedback, use the evaluation results as a tool to assess your current internship plan implementation status and to
reflect upon your growth thus far in meeting the program’s standards.
Week 2 Assignment, Part 6A: Internship Plan Progress Summary (20 points)
Due Week 2
Directions: Review your internship plan, preferably with your Site-supervisor/Mentor, and submit a written summary
(approximately 150 words) reflecting on progress in completing the activities in your plan. Use the workspace below to
write your summary. The summary should include adequacy of the internship plan to address the following 5 key areas.
Does the internship plan:
1.) address all 9 competencies,
2.) provide hands-on experiences in key areas of leadership as suggested in lecture,
3.) address intern’s needs in specific domains/competencies,
4.) address campus needs, and
5.) address rationale for changes to the plan?
Summary of Internship Plan
The Internship plan contains necessary activities in all nine competency areas. It contains activities
dealing with technology operations and concepts; planning and designing learning environments;
teaching learning and the curriculum; assessment and evaluation; productivity and professional practice;
social ethical legal and human issues; procedures, policies, planning, and budgeting for technology
environments; and leadership and vision. All of these competency areas are addressed in the internship
plan and have activities that allow for leadership practice in these areas. Hands on experience in these
key areas of leadership are vital to becoming a better leader and are modeled after the activities that
were suggested in the lecture material. These internship field based activities represent the specific
Maridale Still – Cohort 16
EDLD 5397
domains and competencies as stated and are organized around eight ISTE Technology Facilitator
Standards, the 33 Performance Indicators and the 78 Performance Tasks. After initially meeting with my
mentor and supervisor, we organized field based activities that represented these domains and
competencies and also addressing campus needs that could also be met. I included changes to my
internship plan that not only would allow for necessary time requirements and also would include some
additional areas that need to be met on our campus. I included some additional time in areas that were
necessary to assure completion of the field based activities and also included some additional items that
could also serve to better meet the competency areas. I plan to meet with my mentor and site supervisor
to review these field based activities to get any additional input necessary to complete my internship plan.
I also want to review the completed activities with my mentor and site supervisor to assure that the
activities are completed to their satisfaction and also review the activities and completion dates on the
remaining field based activities. My revised internship plan is below including necessary highlighted
changes.

The Field-based Experience component of the Internship Plan is a brief, but specific document indicating your overall
approach to the Internship program. The Internship is organized around eight ISTE Technology Facilitator Standards,
the 33 Performance Indicators and the 78 Performance Tasks. Using this document, you will identify the field-based
activities you will approach and indicate which of the eight ISTE Technology Facilitation standards and 33 Performance
Indicators were addressed in each activity. You will provide a brief description of each activity, resource person, and a
completion date for each activity. This activity should be completed with and approved by your site mentor.
You are to plan at least one activity in each of the 33 Performance Indicators found in the text. If an activity is
applicable to more than one performance indicator it must be identified under all applicable tasks.

Educational Technology Leadership Internship Supervisor Evaluation Form
Technology Leadership Internship Supervisor Evaluation
Directions
Thank you for your supervision and mentoring of a Lamar University Educational Technology Leadership Intern. This
is a service to the intern, to the profession, and the technology leadership program at Lamar University. We
are asking you to complete the following Educational Technology Leadership Internship Supervisor Evaluation
(ETLISE).
The ETLISE can be used to structure a final summative conversation and conference with the intern, as the
culminating event of the lnternship/Practicum Experience. You are free to share the evaluation and your
responses with the Interns (at your discretion) or you can just talk about it in general terms. We do need you to
return it to Lamar as we will also be using this for purposes of program improvement. It is not entered as a grade
for the student. In the event that there were multiple supervisors, just complete the sections applicable to the work
done under your supervision.

Week 2 Assignment, Part 7: Reflect on Your Reflections (25 points)
Due Week 2
Directions: In the workspace below, write an approximately 150 word reflection on reflective
practice that addresses all of the following:
 Reflect on what you have learned about yourself as a leader through the reflective
exercises.
 Share how you use reflective practice in your current position.
 Tell how reflective practice has increased your leadership potential.
 Use APA to cite sources.
Workspace
Reflection
During the past year, I have completed many of the Technology Leadership
Activities that were outlined in my original Internship Plan. My site supervisor
reviewed these activities in November, 2010 and we looked forward to my
completion of these activities. This would allow me to have a better
understanding of the technology operations and concepts associated with the
performance indicators and the ISTE technology facilitation standards. When
reflecting on these field-based experiences and activities, I have to say that I
gained the most leadership experience when developing a professional
development in-service for our campus teachers to train them and help them
better utilize the Star Boards in their classrooms. This allowed for the planning,
modeling, collaborating, problem solving, guiding, and facilitating to make the

Star Boards a curriculum assistance too that our teachers could easily adapt to.
During the training they had the opportunity to cross over into various areas of
the curriculum working with tools that could assist them in their classroom
instruction. I probably learned much more about myself as a leader than the
teachers during this professional development preparation and training. We
allowed the teachers to complete a survey monkey evaluation at the end of the
professional development training. This gave me an opportunity to reflect on the
training day and by utilizing the teachers’ comments, I could take advantage of
this input to also reflect using their suggestions to create a more advantageous
training for the next professional development session. It is necessary to
develop more as a good leader when you take time to reflect and inquire about
the project, learn from others’ input, and make adjustments for the next
leadership opportunity.
