Daniel Francis Harris III of Canton, Georgia died on December 8, 2007. He had
come to Hanover from Gloucester, Massachusetts. At Dartmouth, Dan played
baseball in his freshman year and had pledged Theta Delta Chi at the beginning
of his sophomore year. He then left Dartmouth for the U.S. Army, serving from
1954 to 1956.
Dan had been a golf professional at Essex County Club in Manchester-by-theSea, MA in the 1960s, was a member of the PGA, and had built houses. He
raised and educated six children and was survived by his wife Grace. His father,
Daniel F. Harris II, was a member of the Dartmouth Class of l925.
