Plot Development Offer a brief summary and identify major developments as it relates to plot, character, and theme. 2. Character Development Identify and introduce new characters. Evaluate significant occurrences and the effect on the character- is the character dynamic or static? Explain using specific examples. 3. Development of Theme Identify themes, expand on previously discussed themes, introduce new themes. Support with textual reference. 4. Quotation Significance Select three quotations and expand on their significance. Evaluate each quotation as it provides insight into character, advances the plot, or illustrates a theme. 5. Identification of Literary Elements Locate and qualify the use of two literary elements. Provide a textual reference and explanation. 6. Visual Representation Be creative! Select an aspect of the novel and choose a way to visually represent it. Provide an explanation. 7. Literary Criticism Fill out the attached handout Literary Criticism Template for your section. Relation to Current Event Select a current event that has a connection to any aspect of the novel. The purpose is to provide a greater context to the novel by providing a deeper insight into the novel. 9. Four Discussion Questions You must anticipate student responses and have two sub questions prepared for each main question. Student Responses Your second role is to respond to the discussion questions on a given date. You will need to read the section carefully, be attentive during the presentation, and be prepared to answer the questions posed by the presenter. In addition, you are strongly encouraged to respond to questions on other dates after the assigned responder has done so. You will be evaluated on both occasions. Additionally, you may look for information that is happening presently that can be connected to any aspect of the novel further enhancing the reading.
