La Nota: Your grade will be weighted and determined as follows: Presentations, Projects, Tests & Quizzes 70% Homework 20% Daily Preparation and Participation 10% Grading Scale grade percentage A 94-100 A90-93 B+ 87-89 B BC+ C C- 83-86 80-82 77-79 73-76 70-72 D+ D DF 67-69 63-66 60-62 0-59 La Tarea: You are responsible for recording all assignments daily. These assignments will be announced each class period and/or written on the board. Generally, you will have an assignment each day. All written work should be done independently in order to discover your personal strengths and challenges as you learn a new language (please see your Student Handbook, page 9, for possible consequences of cheating). All assignments will be handed in for correction or checked for accuracy, neatness and thoroughness at the beginning of the period. Homework is to be completed prior to class each day and ready when you enter the classroom. If for any reason you are having difficulty with any assignment, please see me, contact me or leave a note on my desk prior to class time. In addition to your usual homework assignments, I recommend that you spend at least 10 minutes daily learning new vocabulary. The current vocabulary lists are located in each chapter of each unit lesson. Participación: In order to participate, you must attend class. The participation portion of your grade is comprised of your active contributions in Spanish during class, partner work, and group activities. This portion of your performance is you instructor’s means of evaluating your spoken Spanish. You are encouraged to ask questions in English; however what you say in Spanish will positively influence your participation grade. In addition to spoken contributions in Spanish, participation is also measured by arriving to class promptly with your supplies and daily assignments. Preparación: In order for you to actively participate in class, you must be prepared. Take thorough notes on class topics, lessons, and activities. Review your notes and the current textbook unit daily. Read the material assigned for each class and prepare assignments indicated daily in class. Evaluaciones: Frequent performances, vocabulary checks, quizzes, projects and oral interviews are the primary assessment evaluations in Spanish class. All students should be prepared daily for brief fiveminute pop-quizzes on current vocabulary, grammar structures, and current cultural topics being studied. You will be notified in advance of performances, quizzes, tests, projects and oral interviews. Quizzes and tests may involve speaking, listening, vocabulary, writing and culture. Mas puntaje: The only opportunities you will have to receive extra credit will be occasionally on quizzes and tests (if present on the day the assessment is administered). I believed that, if you follow the previously outlined expectations of daily work, preparation and participation, that your evaluations will reflect an accurate representation of your understanding of the subject.
