8th Grade Science Formal Lab. Report Jan.2008 ABO Blood Type and Rh Factor Lab Problem How can you determine which is the most common blood type? Background information Explain the A, B, or O system of blood typing Explain the Rh factor system of blood typing Explain what is a blood transfusion and when are they needed Explain what is a blood bank. Must be written in full sentence form. All key terms must be defined. Relevant laws and theories must be explained. History must be outlined and formulas must be stated. Must be no longer than 20 lines. Hypothesis Must be clearly stated in one sentence. Materials All materials and quantities listed in a maximum of 2 columns. Procedure To be referenced with title of document (underlined) followed by page numbers. Note any changes made by instructor (numbered and in complete sentences). Results Create a table showing the occurrence of blood types in our class and in Mexico as a whole. Create a graph using MS Excel to show this data. All tables, graphs and diagrams must have specific titles. Rows and columns in tables must be separated with distinct and straight lines. Any numerical values must be rounded as instructed for each lab. All units must be included (either in the title or beside each number). All X and Y-axis must be labeled with units included. Graphs must be at least half of a page and values must be evenly distributed. Graphs must be in bar or line format as instructed and must include legends when required. All diagrams must be done in pencil (color only if instructed). Must be labeled neatly and horizontally on the left side using a ruler. Conclusions Must begin with restating the problem. Must state whether or not the hypothesis was correct. Briefly summarize results. State the conclusion. State two possible sources or error. Must be no longer than 10 lines.
