Broome County:
American Cancer Society: Free, local transportation for cancer patients to and from
treatment facilities in Broome Co. 722-6471, (800) ACS-2345. Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30
p.m., Mon – Fri. This is operated on a volunteer based system, rides are not guaranteed.
Therefore, 7 days notice is appreciated. Patients need to be 100% ambulatory and no
oxygen tanks are allowed. http://www.cancer.org
BC Country: Transportation for rural residents of all ages in Broome County. Call to
register (607) 763-4466. Up to 2 weeks advance notice; first come first serve basis.
Service is available 6:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. weekdays, no service on weekends & holidays.
Cost: $2.00 each way; half price for elderly and disabled.
BC Lift: Disabled and elderly who cannot get to bus stops must complete an application
verifying disability, call for application: (607) 763-4464; Office for Aging: (607) 7634421. People 60 yrs and older with OFA card call (607) 778-2411 for application. Same
hours as BC Transit fixed route service, below. Monday – Friday 8:00 am. - 4:30 pm.
BC Transit: Public transportation operated by Broome Co.; a fixed route transportation
system. Open to all residents with no advanced notice. Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 4 p.m. Mon. –
Fri. Handicapped accessible, call 778-1692 for scheduling. W.E.R.C. Pass Program
(Working Employed parents Ride Cost-free) provides working parents who meet certain
income criteria with a free B.C. Transit bus pass that can be used to travel to work,
school, daycare, shopping, wherever. Call (607) 778-6515 or e-mail

Broome County Council of Churches: Faith in Action Volunteers: All ages eligible
and those with no other means of transportation, primarily to medical appointments.
Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Mon – Fri. At least one week notice; need referral from
provider, family member or self. A home assessment will be conducted, which takes up
to 2 weeks. Wheelchairs are ok if person is able to transfer self in and out of vehicle.

Broome County DSS Medical Transportation: Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
(Summer hours 8-4) (607) 778-2627. Prior Medicaid approval required. Advance Notice
Needed: 3-5 local working days, 5-7 out of town. There is no fee.
Broome County Office for Aging: Hours are Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
(Summer Hours 8-4) (607) 763-4421. Interviews and matches volunteers with clients
needing a variety of services including rides and escorting appointments. ADA
cardholders (607) 763-4464 for application. People who are 60 yrs and older, and for
people who have an OFA card call (607) 778-2411 for application. Web:

OFA Mini Bus (Office for aging): (607) 763-4421 Curb to curb service for elderly and
handicapped. Pre-registration is required - Mini Bus schedule: 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
weekdays. No service on weekends or holidays. A contribution is requested.
Catholic Charities: (607) 723-9991 by appointment, call for information. For
individuals with mental illness who are actively participating in on-going services. There
is no fee.
Deposit Foundation & Rural Housing: (607) 467-4000 Monday, Wednesday, and
Friday by appointment only. Elderly for medical appointments: low-income and senior
citizens with no vehicle and must be a Deposit/Sanford resident. Advance notice of 1-2
weeks preferred. Donations accepted.
Gaining Resources for Older Workers (GROW): (607) 778-2411 Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 5
p.m., Mon. – Fri. (Summer Hours 8-4). Provides employment service that matches
workers age 55 and older with people needing transportation in their own or in the
worker’s vehicle for a fee.
HIV Care Network: (Broome Co. Health Dept.) (607) 778-3066 Transportation
available when Network meetings are held. Call for schedule. To be eligible you must
be low- income or a person living with HIV/AIDS. For transportation to Network and
committee meetings only. Call the Network office in advance of meetings to arrange for
transportation. Receipts are required for reimbursement of expenses.
RSVP: (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) (607) 798-9396 - transportation to adult
day care and senior citizen homes. Hours: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Lift equipped bus for frail
elderly to meet on-going social needs, not able to accommodate for medical appts., and
shopping. Transportation for volunteer opportunities, adult day-care centers, or senior
centers on an s-available basis. Registration is required, suggested contribution is $2.00
each way.
Southern Tier AIDS Program: 1-800-333-0892, (607) 798-1706 STAP clients are
eligible in advance by appointment. There is no fee; other options available for
transportation needs, call agency.
Southern Tier Medivan: (607) 772-8500 24 hours a day. General wheelchair and
stretcher bond of $70.00. At least 24 hrs, 2 days advance notice preferred.
Cost depends on area, $25.00 each way within the triple cities area, $50.00 round trip.
VA Outpatient Clinic: (607) 772-9100. Hours: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Mon. – Fri.
Free transportation to and from VA Medical Center in Syracuse, weather permitting, for
veterans with a pre-arranged appointment. Bus departs from the VA clinic, 425
Robinson St, Binghamton at 10 a.m. Mon. – Fri., arriving at Syracuse at approx. noon.
Leaving Syracuse at 2 p.m. and arriving in Binghamton approx. at 4 p.m. Please call the

Veterans Services Center: (607) 723-8527 Hours: 9:00 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Monday thru
Thursday. Volunteers provide transportation for veterans to VA clinics and hospitals.
(Lourdes, UHS Hospitals, Syracuse, & Guthrie). Must pre-register with discharge papers
and call in advance to schedule a ride.
Yellow Cab Taxi Service: (607) 722-2322 - 24 hours a day; 7 days a week. Open to the
public, no advance notice needed, and the cost is $3.00 within downtown Binghamton,
separate charges by city zone, and $1.25 per mile out of town.
Yellow Medivan: (607) 723-2536 Monday – Sunday; 24 hours a day. Give at least a 2
hours notice, and Medicaid is accepted. Non Medical wheelchair and stretcher accepted,
but not covered by Medicare or insurance companies.
TIOGA COUNTY

Tioga Transit: First transit: 1-800-388-4881; Nichols: (607) 699-3424 Monday – Friday
6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Open to the general public with advance notice for disabled
individuals with wheelchairs. Door to door service is available with at least 24 hrs
advance notice – a fee may be required. $1.00- $2.00 most fares, check bus fare guide.
$30.00 per month, (fixed routes) unlimited rides within Tioga County. $60.00 per month,
(fixed routes) unlimited rides outside Tioga County. One-way fares are from $3.00 to
$6.00.
DELAWARE COUNTY
Delaware Opportunities: (607) 746-6944 Provides transportation to individuals on
Medicaid for health related appointments and to senior citizens for medical appointments.
Transportation is provided to developmentally disabled adults to a daily activity in
Corbett. Limited transportation is available for low income people without vehicles, to
apply for services, to secure services, employment or in emergency related situations.
Delaware County Veterans Service Agency: Van service: (607) 746-2334 any eligible
veteran who needs transportation to Albany Medical Center may call to place name on
list and get information of meeting place. There are scheduled pick up points in
Delaware Co. All van riders must contact one day prior to appointment to arrange for
transportation. Those individuals who need assistance to pick up points or to medical
appointments please contact Delaware Opportunities Transportation Dept. at (607)7466944 or the Delaware Co. Office for the Aging at (607) 746-6333 for arrangements.

Delaware Co. Fixed routes for 3 days a week for shopping and social needs.
Reservations are required – for schedule and list of coordinators call the number above.
Also, for senior citizens groups to CHARTER. Charter trips may be scheduled for
Fridays through Monday and some Tuesdays and evenings. Limited transportation
service for non-emergency health care appointments and pharmaceutical needs. Call for
information.
Circle of Life Ambulate Service (607) 538-1734 – 1-800-824-4440 Serving Delaware,
Otsego, Herkimer, and Schoharie counties. Medicaid approved. Transportation to and
from home, doctors, hospital & nursing homes, with wheelchair, stretcher and
ambulatory transportation.
