NC COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM COMBINED COURSE LIBRARY DESCRIPTION
This course provides a comprehensive study of editing skills needed in the workplace. Emphasis is placed on grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, proofreading, and editing. Upon completion, students should be able to use reference materials to compose and edit text.
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Absences allowed:

The student must attend at least 80% of the total course hours. If more than 20% is missed, the student will automatically be dropped from the course.
MISSED WORK POLICY
If you miss a due date, a grade of zero will be assigned for that assignment.
If you feel that you have a valid reason for not turning in your work, you must contact your instructor
(glc@carteret.edu) within 24 hours of the missed due date. The instructor will then decide whether the reason is valid and if the student will be allowed to turn in the assignment late. Full or partial credit may or may not be given, depending on instructor’s decision.

A quiz will be given at the end of each chapter.
Assignments
Exercises will be assigned for each chapter.
Word Spelling and Usage Quizzes
Two short quizzes will be given each week: One on spelling and one on word usage.

A test will be given after each unit.

CCC STUDENT COMPUTER LAB
A lab is available to students who need access to required software for a course. It is also available to those who need extra time or assistance with assignments and school-related work.
The lab is located in the Wayne West Building, on the third floor, Room 322. To locate the lab, take the elevator or stairs to third floor. Turn right, and the lab is the first door on the right. A computer lab assistant is also available. You must check in with them before using the lab. The phone number for the computer lab is 222-6223.
STUDENT EMAIL

If you are taking an online course, you need to log in to Blackboard on the first day of course. Take time to navigate through the links/web pages to familiarize yourself with the course and its policies and procedures.
Print out any items that you need to put in your notebook for quick reference. This would include items such as due dates, course outline, course instructions, etc.
