Join us to Make a Difference In Our Community! The Spirit of the South Windsor Junior Women's Club Have you ever found yourself wishing for something that was all your own - a creative, social outlet that wasn't tied to your kids or your job? Do you often feel like you have something to contribute to the community but aren't sure how or where to get started? Or perhaps you've heard your friends or neighbors speak of Junior Women's but haven't really understood what the club is all about. The South Windsor Junior Women's Club (SWJWC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, which means that our activities are directed toward philanthropic outreach and giving in South Windsor and other local communities. As a member of the SWJWC, you will be part of a highly respected community service organization. The SWJWC is supervised by an Executive Board which meets on a monthly basis. The club is divided into several distinct committees, each of which is responsible for different aspects of club activities, including: Education Conservation Arts Families and Children Health and Safety Ways and Means (Fundraising) And best of all - during the process of participating in SWJWC meetings, committees and events/ activities (see "SWJWC Highlights" below), you have the potential to create lasting friendships with talented and enthusiastic women from all types of lifestyles and backgrounds. Connecticut Junior Women’s Club The South Windsor Junior Women's Club is a member of a statewide organization, Connecticut Junior Women, Inc. (CJW). CJW is comprised of more than 50 clubs from cities and towns across Connecticut. Collectively, we have joined forces to combine our talents and fundraising efforts in support of a common state project, "Covenant to Care”. The misson of “Covenant to Care” is to mobilize and channel the generosity of caring and faithful people to advocate for, mentor and provide direct assistance to Connecticut’s children and youth who are neglected, abused or at-risk. While this is only one of many causes that we support, we are proud to know that in some small way, we are working to make a difference. ELIGIBILITY The SWJWC welcomes new members throughout the year, and is open to any woman over the age of 18 who is interested in promoting personal and community growth. RESPONSIBILITIES The emphasis of our organization is on community service through fun and friendship. Each member is offered many opportunities to participate in club programs and service activities. While we encourage you to participate on any committees or projects that draw upon your individual area of interest and/or expertise, your degree of participation should fit comfortably into your lifestyle - we don't want anyone to feel pressured or burdened to participate in any way. MEETINGS Meetings are generally held at 7:00 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at The Village at Buckland Courts on Buckland Road in South Windsor. DUES Annual dues are $30.00 per fiscal year, with our fiscal year running from June 1 through May 31. New members are welcome at any time of the year.
