 We require a $500 deposit when you return this form. The deposit is nonrefundable unless we can re-book the farm with another event. The deposit is
held as a security deposit and will be returned within 2-3 days post your event.
 Payment for your event is due in full 2 weeks prior to your wedding
 GST will be added to the total rental cost
What we supply:
~ Exclusive use of the farm grounds, gardens, and Sanctuary during your event
~ We only accept one wedding per weekend, this allows you the option of hosting a
family style event on the farm that could span a number of days.
~ Bose/Sony sound system in Sanctuary
~ 30 folding padded chairs
~ 5 (2’ by 6’) tables/ 2 (18” by 4’) tables
~ Clean up services; including returning tables and chairs to storage or pick up location
for rentals. Clean up service does not include catering services / dishware, this is to be
provided by your catering company or a designated group of cleaners determined and
identified to farm staff).
~ We allocate one large garbage bin and one recycling container per event. Additional
garbage or recycling will be charged to the guest a cost of $50 for time, transportation
and fees for the local refuse and recycling depot.
~ Parking for 30 cars (additional parking on Little road across street) (please request
your guests to carpool)
~ Staffing can be arranged for an additional cost of $20/hr paid directly to staff
~ We can supply fresh produce and/or flowers from our Organic Garden at wholesale
cost
~ Storage area for rental items/early drop off on the Friday prior your wedding. We
recognize that rental pick up is generally the next business day (Monday) and are fine to
hold the items until then. The farm takes no responsibility for any lost, stolen or broken
equipment during the course of the rental.
Sanctuary and Garden Guidelines:
~ Rental time is until 10pm. This is a firm boundary of the farm as it is also a zoning
bylaw for Saanich. At 10pm the sound system must be turned off and guests on their
way. Our cleaning crew will begin cleaning at that time. Should you have professional
catering their clean up crew will also begin their take down process at that time. All nonresidential guests of the farm must be off the property by 10:15, with exception only to
professional staff who are permitted on the farm for clean up until 11pm.
~ All rented tables and chairs must have padded feet so not to injure the Sanctuary floor.
~ Stiletto heels are not permitted in the Sanctuary, as they will damage the floor. (Stiletto
heels are also very difficult to walk on in a farm setting, it is a good idea to let your
guests know the site so that they can dress accordingly)
~ No Smoking in or near the buildings. There is a smoking area by the large Oak tree off
the driveway. This is the only smoking site on the farm.
~ Amplified sound systems are not permitted on the farm at any time.
~ We do require that all personal items be removed from the Sanctuary by 10:15pm the
night of your event. You will be given a storage area if you need to arrange pick-up for
the following day.
~ Farm tables and chairs must be returned to the Sanctuary garden area by 10 pm
(should you have used them in the Secret Garden or other area)


Guesthouse guidelines:
~ The Guesthouse is for overnight guest use only and has a capacity of 12 guests for prewedding dinners/ post-wedding brunches. We do not allow wedding events/rain plans
to take place in the Guesthouse at any time.
~ Caterers are permitted to use the Guesthouse kitchen on the day of your event. Please
book the Guesthouse for the day if you plan to use the space.
~ Rental time on the day of your wedding is from 1pm until 11am the next day. If there
is no Guesthouse booking the night before your wedding it is possible to arrange having
the Guesthouse when you arrive at 10am.
~ No smoking
~ No outdoor shoes are to be worn in the guesthouse carpet areas (living
room/bedrooms).
~ Only overnight guests are permitted in the guesthouse past 10:15pm.
~ Items in the Guesthouse (dishware, cutlery, towels, bedding, etc.) cannot be taken out
of the Guesthouse or guesthouse patio area at any time.

Damage deposit:
Damage occurring to the farm beyond regular wear-and-tear will be subtracted from the
deposit. In the unlikely case of damage occurring to the farm, you will receive an
itemized list of damages and costs with the remaining portion of your deposit.

Please check that you have read and agree to the conditions of deposit.
We also offer staff for your event at an additional charge of $20/hour per staff member.
Our staff can serve food, direct parking traffic, move, set-up and remove tables/chairs,
or provide other helpful services. Our staff cannot serve alcoholic beverages. Our staff
wear black pants, white shirts and nametags when serving our guests. We cannot
guarantee staffing with less than one month’s notice.

Substance Use Policy:
As many large gatherings choose to include alcohol as part of the celebration it is
essential that you and your guests clearly understand the legal and ethical
responsibilities that accompany that choice. Sleeping Dog Farm requires that you obtain
a permit and liability insurance to serve alcohol on our premises. Liability insurance can
be purchased through an insurance broker/company. We require a copy of your
insurance two weeks prior to your event. Alcohol cannot be consumed or held on the
farm without your certificate of insurance.
Even with insurance, Sleeping Dog Farm requires that you assume total and complete
liability for yourself and your guests. Should someone from your party choose to drink
and drive, the burden of responsibility falls upon the name and individual(s) associated
with your event booking. At no time does Sleeping Dog Farm assume responsibility for
the actions of you or your guests. Injury to the gardens, buildings or staff as a result of
the misuse of alcohol will result in immediate forfeit of your deposit and may result in
additional costs.
We ask that you make designated driver arrangements prior to your event and have
people at your event who’ve specifically agreed to monitor that you gathering stays safe
and enjoyable for all. It is always a good idea (and may be required by your insurance
agency) to hire a professional bartender as they will have ‘serving it right’ and may be
more likely to safely monitor alcohol consumption.
No illegal drugs of any kind are permitted on the property. If illegal drugs are identified
to be on the property during the event your booking will be immediately terminated
and you will be asked to leave, without refund.
Your signature on this contract indicates that you have read and are in agreement with
our Sanctuary and gardens guidelines, Guesthouse and bunkhouse guidelines, and
Substance Use policy.
