I. CALL TO ORDER (2:17 p.m.) A. Roll Call (See attendance above) B. Approval of November 20, 2007 minutes Speaker Lawson called for a motion to approve the November 20, 2007 minutes. Senator Rice so motioned, seconded by Senator Haessler. A vote was taken. Be it resolved, the Monroe Community College Brighton Campus Student Government Association unanimously approves the November 20, 2007 minutes as written. II. SPEAK TO THE SENATE There was no one to speak to the senate. III. REPORTS A. President’s Report President Elliott… Presidential Cabinet Update: Mark Soderberg, Roundtable Coordinator, is working to make Roundtable paperless. Maddy Varno, Promotions Coordinator-WEB Design, is working with Mark Soderberg to make that happen; she is also working on Bios and Pictures for all SGA members. Lindsey Jones, Diversity Coordinator, is working with Vice President Quider on diversity resolutions brought down by the SUNY Student Assembly. Clay Munnings, Campus Environment Coordinator, is working on potentially new positions throughout the college on sustainability. Lauren Tellgren, Physical Activities Coordinator, and Haley Bucklin, Promotions Coordinator, are working on the December 15 Baden Street project with Vice President Quider. Publicity for this project will be very important since 60 volunteers are needed to make this project successful. Lauren is also working on potential activity ideas for students in the residence halls. Casey Kurnath, the Finance Coordinator, is looking into a forum for clubs on using the contingency account. 1 Presidential Search Advisory Committee is right on task; screening of resumes and applications for the next MCC President will begin on December 3rd. If anyone has any questions about the selection process or the qualifications for the next President of MCC please see Dan. He cannot, however, answer any questions pertaining to the applicants. Events Committee – per Section 4 E of the Brighton Campus Student Government Association Constitution which describes the President’s role regarding SGA committees and because of problems with attendance at the Events Committee meetings, he has made the decision to terminate the current Events Committee. To continue the programming the Events Committee was working on, he appoints Amanda Haessler, Steve Darrow, Mark Soderberg, Devon Woodward, Fabrice Broyld and Matt Lawson to a new Events Committee. He hopes the Senate will approve this new committee so the programming can continue. Please see him with any questions regarding this decision. B. Senator Reports Senator Haessler… Events Committee is planning a Debate for the presidential elections after the primaries. Holiday Drive – a tree will be placed in the Atrium for donations. Blood Drive - December 6th; volunteers are needed to work the blood drive and volunteers are needed to give blood. Senator Robinson… New Clubs – she is working with two different groups hoping to become chartered. IV. NEW BUSINESS 1. ACTION ITEMS (Items requiring a Senate vote) a. Resolution to approve funds for Phi Theta Kappa and the Campus Activities Board. Whereas, the Brighton Campus Student Government Association has funds that can be allocated to any club or organization that requests said funds, be it Resolved, that the Brighton Campus Student Government Association Senate approve the amount of $850.00 to Phi Theta Kappa and the Campus Activities Board for their diversity event, the Human Race Machine. Speaker Lawson called for a motion to approve funds for the Phi Theta Kappa and Campus Activities Board diversity event. Senator Lynch so motioned, seconded by Senator Haessler. There was no discussion. A vote was taken. Be it resolved, the Monroe Community College Brighton Campus Student Government Association Senate unanimously approves the requested amount of $850.00 to Phi Theta Kappa and Campus Activities Board for their diversity event, the Human Race Machine. V. QUESTIONS & COMMENTS There were no questions or comments. VI. ADJOURNMENT At 2:26 p.m. Speaker Lawson called for a motion to adjourn. Senator Haessler so motioned, seconded by Senator Rice.
