Walter J. Recher, Managing Partner Walter Recher has developed a successful career in education, professional development and the sport business market, and a demonstrated track record of success in developing new and innovative education, event marketing and entrepreneurial programs. Recher has been featured on NBC News, WCBS NewsRadio 88, and Entrepreneur Magazine has held senior management positions in corporate and education markets, and has been involved in the establishment of highly successful education and professional services and training programs. He has held senior management positions with In-Touch Media, MCI, Cablevision, Izod LaCoste and Herman’s World of Sports. As a consultant, he has provided marketing and strategic management consulting services for new market development, including event management and employer outreach programs for corporations, education institutions, business organizations and not for profits in the tristate NY metropolitan area. Walter has been involved in the development of a number of innovative education and training programs, most recently in the successful launch of the Manhattanville College Sport Business Management Program, serving as Director of the Manhattanville SBM Internship and Outreach program, developing new courses, including Entrepreneurship in Sports, Dynamics of the Sport Business Industry, Sports Facility and Event Management, and Technology and Sports in the Global Market, the first online class offered at Manhattanville. Walter worked with Manhattanville in developing the New York Metro area’s first Sport Business Career Fair at Manhattanville College, which featured 27 major sport business industry exhibitors and speakers, and over 400 attendees from the NY Metro region and northeast U.S. Walter established Signature Event Group and SmallBall Marketing to develop new market opportunities in the sport business and education markets. Walter has worked with Apollo Group/University of Phoenix Online Center for Professional Development, at MCI, creating new workforce/workplace sales training programs, and in the development of a new Executive MBA program with MCI and Fordham University. He has also developed strategic market development and new programs for major corporate clients, including IBM, Scholastic Inc., MCI, the Westchester County Association, Mercury Solar Systems, and the Hudson Valley Renegades, developing the inaugural Army vs. Marist baseball event. He has been involved in higher education for the past 12 years, including the development of new online and traditional classroom curricula, as adjunct faculty at Fordham University, Marist College, Manhattanville College and the State University of New York Online Network. He has developed events with Gartner Group and Norwalk Community College, The Business Council of Fairfield, and the Westchester County Association. Walter led a new media marketing services in partnership with the Westchester County Government and the National Center for Missing Children, with the PGA/Buick Classic, Citibank Tournament of Champions. Walter earned his MBA at Fordham University, and BA in Psychology from SUNY College at Oswego. 1 Dave Torromeo, Managing Partner Dave Torromeo has over 20 years successful experience in sports business, professional development, and collegiate athletics, as a consultant, and in senior management. Torromeo has served as VP, Sports Marketing for a marketing/promotions firm in New York and as a consultant, managing programs with Madison Square Garden, Major League Baseball, several golf properties, and as a producer of the History of College Football documentary on ESPN. Torromeo served as a Sports Information Director (SID) and Assistant Athletics Director for Communications, Marketing, Promotions and Fund Raising for over 10 years including six as Iona College. Dave developed a new Sport Business Management Program at Manhattanville College, serving as Executive Director of the Master of Science in Business Management program. In this role, Dave has been responsible for developing the curriculum, hiring and training adjunct faculty from the sport business field, and establishing an advisory board with senior executives from a wide spectrum of relationship in the sports industry. Dave also developed the NY Metro area’s first Sport Business Management Career Fair at Manhattanville College, which featured 27 major sport business industry exhibitors and speakers, and over 400 attendees from the NY Metro region and northeast U.S. Dave also developed the Sport Business Institute and the Center of Ethics in Sport at Manhattanville (CESAM). The Institute serves as a networking component that enhances the experience for students, professors and sports industry executives. CESAM examines the perennial issues and questions confronting the sports industry that impact conduct, character and community and to challenge individuals to maintain the ideal social and spiritual conditions in furthering the cause of athletics. As an entrepreneurial senior level executive, he has developed unique insight into sports and corporate business programs, strategic management, and media relations. As Vice President Operations of National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, he developed relationships with the NFL, a nationally renowned Board of Directors, major college football coaches and administrators across the country. Dave was responsible for all scholarship and grant monies and the distribution of scholarships, overseeing a $10 million endowment, and spearheading corporate sponsorships for the Hall of Fame in South Bend, Indiana. He worked with scholar athletes and played a key role in awarding Jackie Robinson the Gold Medal Award, the highest honor that the Foundation bestows, on the 50th Anniversary of the Foundation and of Robinson’s breaking the color barrier in baseball. He created a program that afforded players from Divisions IAA, II and III and the NAIA to enter the College Football Hall of Fame. Dave was also a catalyst of the Foundation’s PLAY IT SMART program; an educational program that works to turn football teams from inner city environments into learning teams. Dave earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Rhode Island, and a Master’s Degree from Iona College. 2
