Computer News
Students have been excited about
computer experiences in kindergarten.
They are having fun and learning in
technology class. Additionally, in class
we have been playing games that
review basic skills, letter recognition,
shapes, colors, patterning, and
matching. You can find some
excellent web sites selected by
kindergarten teachers throughout our
district at

my classroom blog at:

Fire Safety:
This month is Fire Safety month. As part
of our fire safety learning, we had a fire
truck visit the kindergarten classrooms
today. After students had the
opportunity to view the fire truck and
equipment up close, the firemen gave
a brief talk on fire safety to all of the
kindergarten classes.
Sight Word Flashcards
In today’s Friday Folder you will find our
first set of sight words we have learned.
Please take the time to cut these out
and review daily. Practice spelling and
writing these words. Also, look for these
words in books, Take Home Tuesday
books, Poems from Poetry binder, etc.
You will get a new set of flashcards at
the end of each reading unit.
Writing workshop:
Every day, your kindergartner is
becoming a “storyteller” during our
writing workshop time. Students are
learning and practicing how to tell
stories to an audience. They have
learned about being a speaker and a
listener. They have all had a chance to
tell a story from their personal life to a
partner. In addition to storytelling, the
children are also taking part in guided
drawing lessons. We have been
focusing efforts on how to tell stories
and how to draw pictures. Very soon,
we will be introducing our Writing
Folders and students will be writing
stories that convey meaning.
