Prayer
Job Description
Responsible to promote prayer for the Global Impact
Celebration and for visiting missionaries. Design a prayer board
and a system to distribute and receive prayer commitment cards.
In cooperation with the printing and promotion team, design and
print prayer commitment cards. In addition, design and print
prayer reminder cards to coordinate with your prayer board.
Another option is to design and print a prayer booklet.

Recruit church members to serve on the prayer team.

Create a prayer request list to promote prayer among the
congregation and to encourage prayer in advance of the
Celebration for GIC preparation and personnel.

Build a prayer board to be placed in a highly visible place in
the church building. The board should be designed to display
prayer reminder cards featuring GIC missionaries and on
which are printed their names, photographs, and specific
prayer requests. Below each missionary’s card on the board
could be a hook for the people to hang their completed prayer
commitment cards. The board should be staffed during the
Celebration.

Alternatively, create prayer booklets printed for each person
in your congregation. The booklet, set up on a 30/31 day
basis, would serve as a daily reminder of all GIC missionary
and speaker’s names, photographs, pertinent family and
ministry information, specific prayer requests, etc.

Determine a system to receive and monitor prayer
commitments made during the celebration.

Promote and encourage your people to pray for the
participating missionaries and their needs through the prayer
commitment cards.

Refreshments
Job Description
Preparation and provision of refreshments for the missionary
registration/welcome center, missionary display area, the
missionary/church staff hospitality areas, and other areas of need.

Recruit church members to serve on the refreshment team.

Choose menu, and prepare and serve healthy snacks and
beverages for the missionary registration on Wednesday.
This event is to welcome all missionaries and provide a
relaxing atmosphere to meet staff members and GIC team
members.

Choose menu, and prepare and serve finger foods and
beverages for your people, the missionaries and staff in the
missionary display area before and after public services.

Provide a hospitality area for missionaries and staff during the
GIC for relaxation and refreshment. Decorate the area to
provide a welcoming atmosphere. Have refreshments
available for missionaries and staff throughout the day.

Help with clean up of the hospitality area during the day and
in the display area after the services.

Promotion
Job Description
Responsible for all printed materials and for promotion of all
events.

Recruit church members to serve on the team.

Design and produce the Global Impact Celebration bulletins,
brochures, flyers and posters. Consider adding an at-a-glance
schedule of events in one or several of the above.

Produce printed materials designed by other Celebration
teams, including:


Prayer reminder cards to coordinate with the prayer board
(prayer team)

Prayer booklet, if not using a prayer board and prayer
reminder cards (prayer team)

Prayer commitment cards (prayer team)

Faith Commitment cards

Life Commitment cards

Official GIC name badges for missionaries, GIC teams,
staff and others

Faith Commitment Budget/Global Outreach Budget for
inclusion in brochures/bulletin(s).

Serve as a resource, if needed, to assist Sunday Bible
Study/small groups in preparing their host packets.

Signage for guest missionaries to locate registration, the
display area, etc.
Prepare for GIC promotion via video(s) and/or Microsoft
PowerPoint presentation(s) to be displayed in the worship
services for 3 – 6 weeks prior to the GIC.

Produce GIC theme banners for use outside the worship
center or on the campus, in the worship center, and/or
fellowship hall.

Design a large place card for each individual missionary’s
name to be used at the various meals to identify their table.

Display signs and/or banners in various locations such as
outside the worship center or on the campus, in the worship
center, fellowship hall and missionary display area.

Clean up decorations, banners, etc., at the conclusion of the
Celebration.

Job Description
Assemble GIC participant’s packets for missionaries, staff the
welcome table, arrange for greeters and guides, and assist in
travel arrangements as necessary.

Recruit church members to serve on the registration team.

In cooperation with the promotion team, assemble the
Welcome Packets and distribute to arriving missionaries.
Packets should contain:

Orientation to church

Orientation to the city and state

Things to do

Shopping information

Name, address, and phone number of missionary host
family

Meal and activity schedule for the GIC

Celebration program

Name badge

Other items that may be informative and/or beneficial.

Prepare and install any necessary signs for directions to the
registration desk and other areas of importance.

Appoint greeters to serve in the parking lot and at the
entrances to welcome and give direction to arriving
missionaries.

Have beverages and healthy snacks such as fruit available
during registration for missionaries.

Provide any other hospitality items such as t-shirts, etc.

Prepare name badges for missionary guests.

Arrange airport or other transportation needs for arriving and
departing missionaries.

Clean up all materials, signs, tables, etc., after registration is
concluded.

Enlist and ensure greeters are present at entrances for all
services, lunches, dinners, etc.

Job Description
Assign spaces to missionaries in exhibit area. Assemble materials
and equipment for missionary displays and help them set up.

Recruit church members to serve on the displays team.

Compile listing of all equipment needed for the missionaries
to most effectively set up their displays (extension cords, tape
players, VCR, TV, etc.).

Determine location for displays and assign a place to each
missionary.

Arrange for moving walls, tables, etc., and coordinate
installation of any special equipment.

Assist missionaries, if needed, in carrying their equipment for
the displays. Be at registration to assist missionaries as they
arrive.

Be aware of security concerns for equipment and missionaryowned items.

Arrange to help missionaries carry out their equipment at the
conclusion of the Celebration.

Clean up the display areas after each event and after the
completion of the GIC.

Study/Small
Groups
Job Description
Assure that missionaries participating in Global Impact
Celebration are appropriately cared for. Ensure that their
needs are met while at church. Assemble missionary hosting
packets to be used by Sunday Bible Study groups/small groups;
coordinate the hosting of missionaries by these groups.

Recruit church members to serve on the Sunday Bible study
group/small groups team.

Coordinate with the leadership team the assignment of each
missionary to his or her respective Sunday Bible Study
group/small group.

Assemble a “Sunday Bible Study Group Hosting Packet” for
each missionary. The packet is to be given to the leader of the
Bible study group/small group that will serve as the
missionary’s host(s). See more information and the sample
packet on pages 85-92. Each packet should include: a picture
and biographical information about the missionary and
family; their list of ministry/personal needs (your church’s
opportunity for ministry to the missionary); prayer needs;
mailing information and phone numbers; additional
miscellaneous information; the GIC Coordination Form for
Housing, Transportation, and Meals; and the GIC Schedule of
Events.

Assist in identifying and enlisting a coordinator (lead host) for
each adult Bible Study group who will communicate with the
Sunday Bible study/small groups team.

Communicate with the Sunday Bible study groups/small
groups to see that each class is prepared to serve as a host for
their missionary.

Develop a Master Hospitality Chart for Lodging and Meals
that includes home hosts and meal hosts. Refer to sample on
page 94.

After you have determined home hosts and meal hosts, write
them a letter of appreciation and instruction. See pages 95-96.

Be a resource to adult classes as they prepare for the Friday or
Saturday evening Global Briefing Home Meetings.

Orientation
Supper
Job Description
Plan and coordinate the Orientation Supper for Wednesday.

Recruit church members to serve on the orientation supper
team.

Choose menu, prepare and serve food for the Orientation
Supper on Wednesday night. This event is for all
missionaries, host families, and staff.

Plan for and set up decorations – corresponding to the
Celebration theme and/or an international/missions motif –
for the supper.

Coordinate with church staff for audio-visual needs.

Determine the number of missionaries and their family
members attending the Celebration. This number is to be
combined with the church host families for the number
expected to be present for the Orientation Supper.

Formally invite the church host families to the orientation
supper. Insure that missionaries are introduced to their host
families and sit at the table with them. (Arrange seating so the
missionaries are at the same table as the host family.)

Have greeters at the entrance doors to answer questions and
give directions as people arrive. Have greeters prepare
pressure-sensitive name badges for all attendees.
Help with clean up after the event.

Kick-Off Service
Coordinate the flag program for Wednesday evening’s kick-off
service.

Recruit church members to serve on the kick-off team.

Pick up flags at locations to be determined, if borrowing or
renting them.

Ensure all flags have stands and build or buy stands as
needed.

Coordinate with Global Focus and GIC coordinators for the
order of service.

Arrange for flag carriers. Recruit, enlist, rehearse and remind.

Practice flag parade at designated times on the Sunday before
the Celebration and on Wednesday, the opening service.

Instruct the flag carriers to line up outside the sanctuary 30
minutes before service.

Return flags, if borrowing or renting them, at the end of the
Celebration.

Luncheon
Job Description
Plan menu, arrange location, and recruit volunteers.

Recruit church members to serve on senior adult luncheon
team.

Design and implement a system for sale of tickets for the
luncheon.



Consider planning the meal at a restaurant or at the church. If
the event is held at the church, coordinate the food
preparation and service.

Communicate and coordinate with the senior adult
specialist/consultant, if applicable, who will assist the team in
planning and implementing your senior adult GIC event(s).

Have greeters at the entrances to welcome people and answer
questions as they arrive.

Have greeters prepare name badges for all attendees.

Coordinate set-up of tables and decorations to complement the
Celebration theme.

Coordinate with the restaurant or the church staff for audiovisuals needs.


Event
Job Description
This event is for all leaders in the church. Invitees include
participating missionaries, members of all the Celebration
leadership teams, the staff, deacons, Sunday Bible Study/Small
Group teachers, and the Global Outreach Team. The goal of this
event is to help the church leadership catch the vision for global
outreach. During the fellowship time it should be an informal
setting with snacks/meal and beverages. Create an atmosphere
so all attendees mingle.

Recruit church members to serve on the leadership event
team.

Design and send out invitations to those who should attend.

Coordinate the quantity and type of finger foods needed for
the fellowship.

Coordinate with the church staff for audio-visual needs.

Have greeters at the entrances to welcome people and answer
questions as they arrive. Coordinate set-up of tables and
decorations to complement the Celebration theme.

Coordinate clean up following the fellowship.

Banquet
Job Description
This will be a sit-down banquet for all missionaries
and adults in the church. GIC events specifically geared to
children, and usually youth, will be held simultaneously at other
locations.

Recruit church members to serve on the team.

Coordinate set-up of banquet room: tables, serving area,
program area, etc.

Plan decorations and atmosphere for the International
Banquet.

Design and implement a system for the sale of tickets for the
banquet.

Be available to assist the church staff in the program
preparation for the International Banquet.

Coordinate with church staff for audio-visual needs.

Have greeters at the entrance doors to welcome people and
answer questions as they arrive.

Have greeters prepare name badges for all attending.

Arrange seating so that there is one missionary or special
guest at each table as much as possible.

Prepare and serve food for the banquet.

Job Description
Coordinate the operation of the Blessing Mart, including
volunteers, donations and disbursements.


Work with the GIC coordinator to select the location for the
Blessing Mart and determine its hours of operation.

Determine methods of encouraging and receiving donated
items and services from your church members and perhaps
the community.

Direct sorting and preparation of donated items to be ready
for the Mart.

Organize the donated services available to your missionaries
such as eye and dental exams, auto services, etc.
