Graduation Fact Sheet February 2008 Ceremony When: Saturday, February 2, 2008 10:00 am ET Where: James L. Knight International Center 400 SE Second Avenue Miami, FL 33131 Reception: Friday, February 1, 2008 6:30 to 9:00 pm ET Bank of American Tower 100 SE Second Street Miami, FL 33131 Participation: Students who wish to participate in the graduation ceremony must complete the Graduation Participation Form, which can be found on the graduation Web page, located on KU Campus under the Academic Support tab. The Graduation Participation Form must be typed and emailed to graduation@kaplan.edu no later than December 14, 2007. Late forms will be denied, as will forms that are faxed or mailed. Hotel: Students are responsible for finding and securing their own hotel reservations. We recommend you reserve your hotel rooms now in order to avoid high rates or sold out hotels. A list of area hotels can be found on the graduation Web page, located on KU Campus under the Academic Support tab. Reception A reception will be held Friday, February 1, 2008, at the Bank of America Tower. You will have the opportunity to meet other students, faculty, staff, and advisors. Please complete the Graduation Participation Form and email it to graduation@kaplan.edu if you would like to attend. Caps and Gowns: Students are responsible for ordering their own caps and gowns. Caps and gowns may be ordered directly through the Kaplan University Student Store at http://www.allinview.com/kaplan/. Academic Honor Cords: Academic honor cords can be ordered on the Graduation Participation Form. Eligibility for academic honor cords is verified by the Registrar’s Office. For more information about academic honors, please see the University Catalog. Graduation Participation Forms may be found on KU Campus under the Academic Support tab. Diplomas: Diplomas are mailed by the Registrar’s Office approximately eight weeks after the student’s last day of class. Diplomas are not included in the diploma cover at the graduation ceremony. To contact the Registrar’s Office about your diploma, please call 866.522.7747 extension 6333 (Toll Free). Registration: Registration will be held at the reception on Friday, February 1, 2008. Guests: Due to the high response rate of graduates for past ceremonies, the number of guests per student is limited to eight (seven including the graduate). At this time, there are no exceptions to the limit of eight seats. Students may write to graduation@kaplan.edu in late December to determine if extra seats are available. Tickets will be mailed to students in early January based on the number of guests requested on the Graduation Participation Form. A ticket is required for each graduate and guest(s). Children age three and under may sit on the lap of an adult. Announcements: Graduation announcements can be ordered from http://www.cbgrad.com/. Class Rings: Class rings can be ordered from http://www.ringcompany.com/ Airport and Transportation: Graduates are responsible for all expenses incurred for travel to and from the graduation ceremony. Out of town guests may fly into the Miami International Airport. Go Airport Shuttle service is available and advanced reservations are not necessary. Graduation Students may walk in the February ceremony if they have completed all their graduation requirements Requirements: prior to February 2, 2008. Students may also walk in the graduation if they are currently in their last course as of February 2, 2008. Walking in the ceremony does not guarantee graduation. Please note that students who have not completed their program will not be recognized for academic honors and will not be listed in the graduation ceremony program. Expenses: Students will be responsible for all graduation expenses, including lodging and transportation.
