Describe the dates and the classmates’ schedules at school for today.

Students have known how to introduce their family members, how to count the numbers in Chinese.
Identify how students will demonstrate their knowledge (Identify Acceptable
Evidence):
Students will be able to express their own birthday to each other and talk about their own daily schedules at
schools.
Students can work in groups to report their family members’ birthdays in Chinese.
Plan instruction (Teacher Input and Students Learning Experiences)
Anticipatory Set/Comprehensive Input:
Teacher will show a number song in Chinese to the students by the class begins.
Teacher will greet the students in Chinese and organize the class.
Teacher will choose one student to check the students’ attendance in Chinese.
2 minutes
Teacher will ask the students to follow the number song in Chinese with a cartoon video. And then ask one
student to go to the front to lead the others to go over how to count the numbers in Chinese with gestures.
3minutes
Instruction:
1.Teacher will show the students how to express the dates in Chinese with the help of calendar.
Teacher will point at the date on the calendar to say:
T:Jin tian shi 10 yue 27 hao.
T: Zuo tian shi 10 yue 26 hao.
T: ming tian shi 10 yue 28 hao.( at the same time, teacher write down the Chinese characters about Jin tian,
Zuo tian and Ming tian ; yue and hao with the English meanings and PINYIN above the Chinese
characters on the whiteboard).

Teacher will write down the different dates on the whiteboard and practice this part, for example, 11 yue 12
hao, and say:Jin tian shi 11 yue 12 hao. And ask the students: zuo tian shi ji yue ji hao? Ming tian shi ji yue
ji hao?Meanwhile, teacher will ask the students to guess what’s meaning ji yue ji hao? They have learned:
ni jia you ji ge ren? Asking them to answer the question and make sure that the students can remember ji
---how many and then write down the English meaning which month and which date. Teacher needn’t repeat
the English meaning, just speak Chinese all the time. Now the students can understand what you said in
Chinese with the English meanings on the whiteboard.

2.Teacher will show the students how to express the day in Chinese with the help of calendar.
T: Jin tian shi xing qi er..
T: zuo tian shi xing qi yi..
T: ming tian shi xing san.
Meanwhile, teacher will write down the Chinese characters with PINYIN and English meanings on the
whiteboard. Chinese characters --Xing qi yi –Monday and so on until Chinese characters –Xing qi
ri/tian—Sunday.

3.Teacher will show the students how to express the day, which month and which date in Chinese with the
help of calendar.
T: 9 yue 15 hao shi xing qi ji.
Ss: 9 yue 15 hao shi xing qi liu.

4.Teacher will show how to check the others’ birthday in Chinese.( Teacher can choose some birthday
pictures of my relatives on their birthday party so that after a while teacher can ask the students to compare
the birthday parties in China and in America)

4. Students practise the sentence patterns with the guidance of the teacher.
Independent Practice/Application/Extension:
5. Students will work in groups to check the classmates and their family members’ names, birthday and
positions in Chinese with the help of the form. And report their research to the others.

Students will be evaluated by:
1. Answering the teacher’s questions fluently and correctly.
2. Typing out the sentences on the screen of the computer and reading them fluently.(Find out the
excellent students to type the Chinese characters into computer and show to the others).
