In 1974, farmers digging in a field
near the ancient city of Xian
encountered a long-forgotten pit.
Archaeologists found 8000 life-sized
terracotta warriors.
Dressed in full battle gear, the warrior
had been standing in place for more
than 2000 years.
They were guarding the body of Qin
Shi Huang, China’s first emperor.
