Realistic Fiction Novel Unit Directions: The literature circle groups will meet four times to discuss each section of the book. In order to keep up on the reading assignments, you will need to take the literature circle book home to read. During the group meetings, you are to prepare for the upcoming discussions using the assigned section of the book. Also, you are to have the assignments completed for each of these meetings. Evaluation: Book assignments for each section #1 – Find one “thoughtshot” in this section of your book. Use a sticky note to mark this place in your book. See attached worksheet on thoughtshots. (5 pts.) #2 – Find dialogue that reveals this story’s major conflict. Copy the dialogue down on notebook paper. (5 pts.) #3 – Choose one descriptive scene, a snapshot, from this section of your book and rewrite it in your own words. (5 pts.) #4 –Construct a plot diagram of the story elements in your book. I will provide an example for you. (5 pts.) * Also, you will be given participation points (3 pts.) for adding to the literature circle discussion at each meeting. Students that do not have their books will be given a zero for that particular meeting.
