But now, a small village is turned into a humming industrial township and Educational Centre with all modern and latest amenities. Ugar-Khurd is situated at 16 37’ 12” N. latitude 74 51 ’30” E longitude and 556 meters altitude above mean sea level. Arts and Commerce College started since the academic year 1998-99 with the sole object of imparting higher education especially for Girls students of Ugar and nearby villages. It is run by The Ugar Sugar Works, Dr. Shirgaokar Educational Trust, UgarKhurd Taluka Athani dedicated to the cause of education of pupils of the Ugar-Khurd and surrounding villages. Semesters Every student shall score a minimum of 32 marks out of 80 aggregating 40 marks out of 100 Internal Assessment (Compulsory) There shall be an Internal Assessment carrying 20 marks in each subject & each Semester. STANDARD OF PASSING : 1. To pass B.A./B.Com. (Semesters) examinations the candidates must obtain at least 40% of marks in each subject. 2. Class will be awarded on the strength of total performance regardless of number of attempts. 3. The students who pass the First to Sixth Semester examination in one attempt only shall be eligible for award of ranks and prizes. 4. The award of class at the Degree examination will be on the basis of aggregate performance at First to Sixth semester examinations. This will be applicable for award of ranks, gold medals, scholarships. 5. A candidate is required to keep a minimum of 75% of attendance in each subject. I, students have been exempted from full Term Tuition Fee, University Examination fees and other fees. 3. Students claiming Fees exemption will have to submit Caste Certificate and Income Certificate and required documents from the Competent Authority at the time of admission. 4. If the student fails to produce caste certificate and Income Certificate at the time of admission shall have to pay full fees. 5. COLLEGE GYMKHANA The Principal shall be the president of the college Gymkhana. The activities of the college Gymkhana shall be carried out by a committee under the supervision and with the guidance of the president. College Gymkhana shall conduct both indoor and outdoor games as well as sports. There is a trained Physical Culture Instructor to look after the training and guidance of the student in various sports and games. STUDENTS WELFARE OFFICER (CAREER ADVISORY SERVICE) Keeping in view the necessity of providing vocational guidance and counseling the students and helping students in securing all the facilities and scholarships offered by various private agencies and University a special officer among the staff is appointed. He is assisted by his colleagues. -12RULES AND DISCIPLINE “A disciplined student is one is awakened to the faculty of reasoning and civic sense.” The rules enumerated are to be followed in good faith by every student enrolled in this college. 1. Students shall abide by any general or special rules made by the college authorities in regard to the conduct of the students both in & out of the college. Guardians are resumed to have agreed to these rules when their wards joins the college. 2. No students will be admitted in any class unless he or she takes the oath by signing on the oath form. 3. Student should, in their own interest, read the notices, including notices containing various rules placed on the college Notice Board from time to time. 4. All the students must appear for Tutorials, Tests and Terminal Examinations to be conducted by the college. 5. Students must be punctual in attendance and must be in the class rooms at the commencement of the lectures. No student shall be allowed to fill in his examination form unless He/She attends the required percentage of attendance prescribed for the purpose. 6. Students must observe complete silence in the college premises. They must not loiter in passages or corridors when the classes are in progress. A breach of these rules will be severally dealt with. 7. No Society or Association of the students shall be formed without prior permission of the Principal. 8. No person shall be invited to address or entertain the students of college or any society or Association of the college without prior permission of the Principal. 9. Subjects of debates and pieces of entertainment in the college shall be first approved by the Principal. The persons to occupy chairs in such function shall also be approved by the Principal. 10. Any misconduct inside the College premises will be held as a serious breach of discipline and dealt with accordingly. 11. No student shall be a members or by Association or write to the Press about matters dealing with the college administration without the previous permission of the Principal. 12. Identity Card is necessary for all the students and it should be produced whenever demanded by any member of the college staff. Identity Card shall be signed by the students in the presence of the Principal or any other authorized person by him in this behalf. 13. The student losing the Identity Card will be issued a duplicate one on payment of Rs. 25/- ascertaining the circumstances under which it was lost. 14. Students are forbidden to write or mark on desks, doors, windows walls or a piece of furniture in this college. 15. Students must not attend any other class except their own, without the permission of the Lecturer concerned. 16. A breach of rules & discipline shall be severally dealt with. -13- COLLEGE ASSOCIATION: 1. All the students are entitled to the membership of the Association. 2. Members of the Staff shall be the honorary members of the Association. 3. The college Union Committee shall consist of the Principal, Chairman, Secretary and some members of the Staff. 4. The Secretary will have to carry out the work entrusted to him by Chairman of the Association. 5. The Principal shall be the Ex-Officio President of the Association. 6. Notice relating to the activities of the Association or the Association should be countersigned by the Chairman. LIBRARY “FIVE LAWS OF LIBRARY SCIENCE” 1. Books are for use. 3. Every Reader has his books. 4. Library is a growing organism. 2) Every Book has its reader 4) Save time of the reader. SPECIAL LIBRARY FACILITIES I) BOOK BANK FACILITY Two Books (Returnable) will be issued (out of the available stock) to meritorious students on payment of Rs. 40/- (Non Refundable) for the academic year. II) POOR STUDENTS LENDING LIBRARY Under this scheme two books (Returnable) will be issued for the existing stock to the meritorious, poor and deserving students for the academic year. III) TWO BOOKS (RETURNABLE) WILL BE PROVIDED TO THE STUDENTS WHO SECURE FIRST AND SECOND POSITIONS AT THEIR ANNUAL EXAMS. NOTE : A separate Notification will be intimated to avail the above facilities At the beginning of the academic year. -14- RULES OF LIBRARY 1. The College Library is kept open during the College hours on all working days (except Sundays and Public Holidays). During vacation also the Library is kept open. 2. The students will have to produce the Identity Card to the Library Staff on demand. They may take the books or reference or consultation in the Library itself on production of Identity Card. 3. Books will be issued for reading at home if an application for this purpose is made in the prescribed form. Books will be issued as per the time table put up on the Notice Board in the Library. 4. Books will not be issued if an application for the same is not made at least 24 hours before the day fixed for the purpose. 5. Any damage done to the books furniture etc., of the Library will have to be made good by the concerned immediately if damage is done deliberately, a part from imposing a heavy fine, the student shall be liable to be expelled from college. 6. No books shall remain with the student for more than seven days Renewal is allowed but only once in a week Failure to return the books in time will be charged a daily penalty of fifty paise. 7. If the day fixed for the issue happen to be holiday books will be issued on next day. 8. In case any book is lost or damaged by a member, he shall replace the book or shall pay one and half times the cost of the book or the new price whichever is higher. 9. Reference Books, rare books, periodicals and books of fine arts may not be issued for home use except with the written permission of the Principal. 10. The books may be renewed if the same is not in demand or not reserved by other readers. The renewal will be done on producing of the books. 11. If a member does not pay of the Library dues the privilege of borrowing books shall be suspended till He/She deposits the necessary amount. 12. The Principal shall have the power to refuse the issue of a book to any member or he may recall any book in case it is deemed necessary. 13. Students are welcome to make suggestions for the better use of the Library. Strict discipline shall be observed by the students in the Library. Selection of Ideal Boy & Girl, General Secretary, Ladies Representatives and Class Representatives shall be made according to the following procedure. Written and Oral Test Academic Performance If no application is received from Boys and Girls for the post, the selection shall be made by the nomination. Committee’s decision is final.
