Vaughan Consortium Concerns Published in Archives 2011 27 Jan 2011 The news that Steven Vaughan has pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer provides little comfort to supporters who are worried that the former Chester owner is looking to get involved with a takeover of our club. On November 10th last year the Leader reported Mr Vaughans interest as follows. ¢‚¬Å“Wrexham FC is up for sale and I have been approached to join the consortium that is putting in a bid for it. They have offered me a stake of around 30 per cent in the special purpose vehicle which has been put together to make the bid.¢‚¬• Since that report was published the club have stated that there are two parties in discussion with the club regarding a possible purchase of Wrexham FC. This has led to speculation that Mr Vaughans consortium may be one of the potential bidders. Obviously supporters of Wrexham FC would have concerns if this should be the case. In light of this we would like to call on the owners of Wrexham Village to state categorically that they will have no dealings with Mr Vaughan or any of his associates. Read more... Fans United Published in Archives 2011 24 Jan 2011 The Society Board has today written to the Chair of Stags Fans United with a message of support from Wrexham fans. The Stags are currently in dispute with a former owner who has served an eviction notice on them. The story of Mansfield Town, and countless other clubs, underlines the importance of football clubs retaining control of their grounds. We wish them well in their campaign to regain ownership of their stadium and can promise them the full support of the WST,apart from 90 minutes on saturday, in their struggle. The letter is reproduced below. Read more... Get the Bandwagon Rolling Published in Archives 2011 23 Jan 2011 After many years of misery it appears that our fortunes are on the up. Next Saturdays game against promotion rivals Mansfield is a vital six pointer and Dean and the lads need your support. Our friends at Field Mill have reduced the admission for this game to £10 and £1 for concessions. The WST busses are running at a bargain £15 (apologies for the earlier 'typo'!) but places are filling up fast. Tickets and travel for slightly more (or less) than you would pay to get into the Mold Road. WHAT A BARGAIN ! Todays Press Report Published in Archives 2011 03 Jan 2011 WST is concerned to see articles in todays press relating to the possibility of the ownership of the Racecourse being passed from the football club to a third party. Our fear is that the football club will end up paying a rent for the use of the ground it currently occupies rent free. Wrexham fans have fought many battles to ensure that the football club regained ownership of the football ground during the period when Mr Hamilton was owner. This was not done in order for the club to pay rent to a property development company. There are certain circumstances in which a change of ground ownership may not,in itself be a bad thing. In light of this we have written to Mr Roberts seeking clarification of his comments and will update our members in due course. Read more... New Date for Big Red Forum Published in Archives 2010 30 Nov 2010 Wrexham Football Club and Wrexham Supporters' Trust have announced that the open fans' forum to discuss the results of the Big Red Survey will now take place on December 7th at 7.30pm in the Centenary Club at the Racecourse Ground and not December 2nd as previously advertised. The event is open to all Wrexham fans, regardless of whether they are members of the Trust. The forum will be an opportunity for fans to quiz the Trust on the findings of the Survey, the first ever carried out on behalf of Wrexham FC. Fans will also be asked to prioritise the areas which they would like the football club to address and be invited to set up working groups to take these forward. WST members and fans who attended the Southport and Luton games should already have received a copy of the results, although copies will also be available on the night. Both Wrexham FC and the Trust see this as an opportunity to engage fans and address to address any concerns they might have. As such, Ian Roberts, Chairman of Wrexham FC and Richard Owen, Chairman of Wrexham Supporters' Trust will jointly host the event alongside Director, Paul Atkinson and the Trust's Treasurer and Big Red Survey author Mark Williams. Dean Saunders will open the meeting and talk about the season's progress to date and the teams he sees as providing the biggest challenge to Wrexham's promotion chances. Paul Atkinson will then make a statement about the financial situation of Wrexham FC - following the recent news that the Crusaders have gone into administration - before Mark Williams presents the findings of the Big Red Survey and invites questions from fans. Ian Roberts, Chairman of Wrexham FC said: "I've been impressed by the work that has gone into the Big Red Survey and look forward to working with the Trust to address some of the fans' concerns. We see this as a really constructive way of taking forward some of the issues identified within the survey, such as the quality and cost of catering at the Racecourse". In early January, Wrexham Village and Wrexham Supporters' Trust will meet to have further talks about the potential sale of the football club. This meeting will be an opportunity for both parties to agree the scope of discussions, the financial situation of the football club and the potential timescales going forward. A further statement will be made following that meeting. Richard Owen, Chairman of Wrexham Supporters' Trust said: "We are keen to sit down with Wrexham Village to understand the football club's financial situation in more detail and to discuss ways in which we could work together. We believe it is vital to work with the club to address fans' concerns through the Big Red Forum, which we see as a really positive step forward in our relationship." Wrexham Football Club and Wrexham Supporters' Trust encourage all fans to attend this event to participate in what promises to be an exciting evening. Read more...
