DESCRIPTION
Performs human resources work in an agency human resource program. Includes
employment, attendance and leave and performance management activities.
Some positions in this occupation may be responsible for coordinating work and
supervising employees.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
Supervises employees by assigning work, reviewing progress and assessing
performance.
Prepare or maintain employment records related to events such as hiring, termination,
leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.
Develops plans and procedures and assists in administering a department-wide
attendance and leave program.
Conducts research and analysis regarding human resource issues to provide customer
service and consultative assistance.
Coordinates human resource activities and advises management on administrative
matters.
Prepares human resource reports and documents.
Works with management in ascertaining and organizing staffing needs for recruitment
purposes by directing the development and maintenance of recruitment programs to
ensure adequate sources of qualified prospective job applicants.

Directs and participates in the recruitment, screening, selection and evaluation of
candidates for employment.
Inform job applicants of details such as duties and responsibilities, compensation,
benefits, schedules, working conditions, or promotion opportunities.
Provide management with information or training related to interviewing, performance
appraisals, counseling techniques, or documentation of performance issues.
Administers, interprets, develops, or assists in developing, an agency performance
management program.
Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative
action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Gathers and analyzes data necessary to develop appropriate human resource policies
and procedures.
Represents the agency in carrying out rules and regulations relating to employment,
attendance, leave, salary changes, terminations and other personal and work problems.
Serves as team leader or team member on various project teams.
Interprets human resource laws, rules and regulations.
Coordinates and directs the work of other employees.
