“The Nest” Conflict is a struggle between opposing forces. In the story, “The Nest” by Robert Zacks the main conflict is interpersonal conflict (character vs character). There is a strong interpersonal conflict between Jimmy and his mother because they have an argument about Paul. Mom thinks that Paul is a bad influence on Jimmy and refuses to let them go on a hike together. Jimmy disagrees with his Mom and tells her that she is wrong about Paul and as a result they begin to argue. In the story Mom says, “We won’t discuss it further… Remember Jimmy every time we’ve disagreed, it turned out I knew what I was talking about.” Mom later realizes that she misjudged Paul and allows Jimmy to form a friendship with him and as a result, the interpersonal conflict between Jimmy and his Mom is resolved.
