CRIME BRANCH
PRESS RELEASE

GANG
LEADER AND FUGITIVE CHEAT RAHEESH AHMAD,
ARRESTED.

CHEATE
D A RESIDENT OF MS PARK, DELHI TO A TUNE OF
RS.15.50 LAC AND ALSO MANY OTHER BUSINESSMEN
IN DELHI, PUNJAB AND UP.
INTRODUCTION:Crime Branch has arrested gang leader and fugitive cheat
Raheesh Ahmad (35 years) s/o Munnavar Ali r/o Village Bhawanipur
Khairun, PS Sahesvan, District Badaun, (UP).
INCIDENT, TEAM & OPERATION:Secret information was received in Central Range, Crime Branch
that activities of a fugitive cheat Raheesh Ahmad who is wanted in
case FIR No.575/13 dated 31.12.2013 u/s 406/420/34 IPC, PS Geeta
Colony, Delhi have been noticed in the area of District Badaun (UP).
HC Tejvir Singh and Ct. Mohan Singh were deputed to develop this
information further. On 26.04.2014, movement of the fugitive was
noticed in Saheswan of Badaun (UP). Accordingly, a team led by Inspr
Rajeev Kumar and comprising of ASI Ayaaz Khan, HC Tejvir Singh and
Ct Sudhir was constituted under the close supervision of ACP Om
Prakash Singh and overall guidance of DCP Bhisham Singh to nab him.
After dedicated and exhaustive efforts, the team was able to nab the
1
fugitive cheat Raheesh Ahmad from the remote area of Saheswan,
District Badaun (UP).
INTERROGATION OF ACCUSED AND MODUS OPERENDI:Sustained interrogation of the accused Raheesh Ahmad disclosed
that he is the mastermind and leader of the gang. He is illiterate but
was able to cheat many persons by his unique modus operandi. He
runs a gang of total four cheats namely Zakir, Munna and Fakre Alam,
all residents of District Badaun (UP). He has worked as labour in
different metal and copper factories at Ludhiana (Pb) from 2006 to
2013. He used to purchase scrap from the metal factories (iron,
copper etc) in bulk for further supply to different buyers in Delhi
particularly in Trans Yamuna area. After gaining confidence of such
buyers, he used to show samples in the form of powder or ash
containing good percentage of copper & silver and misguide them that
he has such material/powder in bulk which he can provide at very
nominal cost. One of the gang members would project himself as scrap
dealer and others would introduce themselves as supplier and
transporter etc. In the greed of making huge profit against small
investment, the businessman would fall in the trap of the accused
persons. With the same modus operandi, this gang has cheated
several persons in Delhi as well as in other parts of Punjab & UP. As
accused Raheesh Ahamad deliberately put a condition of whole
payment in cash instead by cheque/draft, so most of the businessmen
don’t have proper documents pertaining to the transaction and they do
not come forward to lodge complaint even after suffering heavy losses.
The gang has cheated Sh. Devender Pal r/o of M. S. Park Delhi to
the tune of Rs. 15.50 lac against the supply of, 721 kg silver ash @ Rs
2150/- per kg. He provided sample of silver ash to Sh Devender Pal
and supplied iron powder in place of silver ash. His associate Zakir has
already been arrested in the case. Other associates of Raheesh Ahmad
namely Fakray Alam & Munna are still at large. Efforts are being made
to trace them. The concerned police station has been informed about
the arrest.
