The new programs include: 5-Star Green Contractor, Build-It Tour™, THRIVE™, and LogoCheckTM. “These programs can help contractors build their businesses in the rapidly expanding green building and the remodeling segments,” says Matt Gibson, manager of contractor programs for CertainTeed’s Siding Products Group. “All of CertainTeed’s contractor programs were developed to help contractors increase leads and set themselves apart from others in the industry.” This year, CertainTeed’s 5-Star contractors have the opportunity to enhance their credentials by earning the new 5-Star Green Contractor certification. The 5-Star Green Contractor program educates contractors about energy efficiency, conservation and recycling of resources, and carbon footprint reduction in the field and on jobsites. The program also includes a special focus on the methods that have been developed to achieve and measure these goals such as LEED® certification, NAHB Green Building Guidelines, Building for Environmental and Economic Sustainability (BEES) analysis, and others. To be eligible for the program, 5-Star contractors must be pre-approved by CertainTeed, pass the 5-Star Green Contractor aptitude exam and participate in the “Residential Green Building Principles and Practices” workshop module.
