New CertainTeed Programs Prepare Siding Contractors for Big Wins in 2010
(Valley Forge, Pa.) – Four timely new programs from CertainTeed will equip siding contractors
with the tools they need to address the challenges of 2010. The new programs include: 5-Star
Green Contractor, Build-It Tour™, THRIVE™, and LogoCheckTM.
“These programs can help contractors build their businesses in the rapidly expanding green
building and the remodeling segments,” says Matt Gibson, manager of contractor programs for
CertainTeed’s Siding Products Group. “All of CertainTeed’s contractor programs were
developed to help contractors increase leads and set themselves apart from others in the
industry.”
This year, CertainTeed’s 5-Star contractors have the opportunity to enhance their credentials by
earning the new 5-Star Green Contractor certification. The 5-Star Green Contractor program
educates contractors about energy efficiency, conservation and recycling of resources, and
carbon footprint reduction in the field and on jobsites. The program also includes a special focus
on the methods that have been developed to achieve and measure these goals such as LEED®
certification, NAHB Green Building Guidelines, Building for Environmental and Economic
Sustainability (BEES) analysis, and others. To be eligible for the program, 5-Star contractors
must be pre-approved by CertainTeed, pass the 5-Star Green Contractor aptitude exam and
participate in the “Residential Green Building Principles and Practices” workshop module.

The Build-It Tour is an in-the-field, hands-on training program designed to help contractors and

Millwork™ Exterior Trim and vinyl and composite fence, railing and deck products, the Build-It
Tour enhances a contractor’s professional skills by providing in-depth installation instruction and
product education.
THRIVE is a sales lead generation program, conducted for contractors at their distributor
location, that provides meaningful methods for contractors to enhance their marketing efforts,
learn new strategies and network with other contractors. The THRIVE presentation, led by a
CertainTeed territory manager, explains eight proven and timely techniques designed to improve
the quantity and quality of sales leads.
LogoCheck is a professional logo design service that can help strengthen a contractor’s brand
awareness. CertainTeed graphic design professionals will create a unique logo or enhance an
