CertainTeed Updates 5-Star Contractor Program with Unsurpassed Training, Marketing
Tools and Incentives
(Valley Forge, Pa.) – CertainTeed has updated its 5-Star Contractor program to provide a more
robust program with more contractor benefits than any other siding product manufacturer.
Through the new streamlined program, contractors can attain 5-Star Contractor status and easily
access valuable resources that relate to polymer, fiber cement, insulated and vinyl siding, as well
as exterior trim and housewrap.
The enhanced program gives members a higher level of market differentiation and customer
awareness to grow their business, along with new rewards that include special discounts on a
variety of marketing tools and services. The program also includes an additional 10 percent
product purchase rebate through the “Show Me the Money” Visa® debit card rebate program for
CertainTeed siding, trim, fence, railing, decking and housewrap products.
“Our updated 5-Star Contractor program gives our contractors elite industry status and an
unmatched marketplace advantage,” says Matt Gibson, director of channel marketing for
CertainTeed Siding. “It’s also more robust than any other, with our most advanced training,
marketing and sales tools — all of which adds up to a larger skill set, better margins, more
visibility and a greater number of opportunities.”
Training programs for 5-Star Contractors include comprehensive installation guides and DVDs
along with the Master Craftsman training series, which educates contractors about
manufacturing, selling and product installation for the various brands of exterior cladding.

Through the Advanced Training Program, contractors participate in an in-person training session
that focuses on best practices to avoid common siding installation problems and reduce company
callbacks. The 5-Star program aligns with the VSI Certified Installer Program™, which provides
contractors with independent certification in the industry for vinyl siding.
To attain CertainTeed 5-Star status, contractors must have proof of insurance, a high rating with
the Better Business Bureau, and complete and pass the CertainTeed siding education programs,
consisting of Master Craftsman coursework, and Advanced Training Programs covering
CertainTeed product installation, sustainable building and business best practices.
Upon earning 5-Star Contractor status, members will receive a welcome kit with a variety of
business promotional materials, including vehicle decal, shirt, membership certificate and more.
Membership also includes a premier CertainTeed website listing, registration in CertainTeed’s
LeadWorx™ lead management system, access to an exclusive online ordering system for free
product samples, literature, signage and business cards. Additionally, 5-Star contractors are
supported by a dedicated customer service line to help answer questions and assist with program
membership.
5-Star contractors have access to exclusive sales tools, such as the PitchPerfect™ In-Home
Selling System, CurbAppeal™ app for use with the iPad® and MarketZone® Online Marketing
Resources. Contractors also have the opportunity to attend a local distributor-based THRIVE™
Lead Generation Presentation and a Build-it Tour™ live installation training session.
After achieving 5-Star Contractor status, members are eligible to further enhance their
credentials by becoming a 5-Star Green Contractor – showing customers a commitment to
sustainable building practices. The special aptitude exam covers sustainable design, LEED®
certification and NAHB Green Building. Upon completion, members also receive access to
updated tools indicating 5-Star Green status.
