Adjectives Describing A character Think of a fictional character or make up one of your own. Write your character's name and draw a picture of your character in the center oval. Then write eight adjectives that describe the character. Your job is to write five adjectives to describe the picture. 2. First, look at this list that was just completed. Make sure that all the words are adjectives. If they are not, please place a star next to the word that is not an adjective. 3. Choose a colored pencil or marker that is different from the one above. 4. If you are the first person for this activity, you can choose the color that you want. 5. You must check in the dictionary to make sure that the word you use is an adjective. 6. You are to glue the pictures on the paper. After you glue the picture on the paper, you will quietly roll the die. If you shake a five, you must write five adjectives that describe the picture. I you shake a two, you must write two adjectives. You cannot use a color word, word like good or nice, or a number word. You will be graded on the type of words that you use! You may use a thesaurus if you wish. Your homework assignment tonight will be to choose a mystery object, put it in a paper bag, and compose a riddle about the object. Attach the riddle, which is written on the attached note card, to the front of the bag. Center 6: `The Yummiest Meal of All Writing a Descriptive Essay There is one topic that seems to be interesting to everyone,--food. It is fun to compare the different tastes that people have regarding the food that they eat. Some people think that pizza is best with just cheese, but others may think that a pizza is not complete unless it has vegetables and anchovies on it. You are going to write about an ideal meal and describe it in such a way that the reader will be able to visually smell and taste every bite. Directions: In the first list, write the names of the foods you like to eat and in the second list as many adjectives and phrases that you can think of that apply to that food. It can be a person, animal, game, or anything you want it to be. Let your imagination run wild. Be sure to begin with a topic sentence and follow up with three or four descriptive sentences. End with a concluding sentence. Example: Veggy T. Able has a strange appearance. He is as healthy looking as a vegetable garden in summer. His head is perfectly round and green like a cabbage. He has two black olives for eyes, a red radish nose, and an orange yam mouth that is always grinning. There are five green bean fingers on each hand and his belly button is a large green pea.
