It’s something that Jesus did very well. He paid attention. He listened well. He addressed their needs, not his. Adults Children Abraham and Sarah showed outstanding hospitality! Abraham doesn’t wait for the men to come to him. He runs to them and tells them to come in. He bathes their feet, puts them in the shade, and prepares a good meal for them. Abraham was a desert nomad. He knew what it was to be hot, tired, and dusty. His guests needed cooling off and resting. Martha, too, is a great hostess—even though she got chided for being too busy about many things. Mary, the gospel says, had chosen the better part because she sat still and listened to Jesus. Somewhere in the middle is the truth. We need to do both—be a Martha and a Mary. Don’t we feel special when someone makes us a nice meal or makes us a cup of tea or puts a quick bouquet of flowers in our room or lays out some of our favorite things—a magazine or book, a candy on the pillow, a cozy blanket. But don’t we love it too when someone really listens without telling his/her own story or giving advice or dismissing our feelings? Isn’t it nice when someone puts down their pen or silences their cell phone or turns off their i-Pad and really listens? How well am I doing with showing people they are worthwhile by showing them acceptance and outstanding hospitality? Discover Natural Family Planning CELEBRATE AND REVERENCE GOD’S VISION OF HUMAN SEXUALITY. Natural Family Planning (NFP) is an umbrella term for modern, healthy, scientifically accurate, and reliable methods of family planning. NFP methods are different from and better than artificial contraception because they cooperate with, rather than suppress, a couple's fertility; can be used both to achieve and avoid pregnancy; call for shared responsibility and cooperation by husband and wife; require spousal communication; foster respect for and acceptance of the total person; have no harmful side effects; and are virtually cost free. NFP is unique because it enables its users to work with the body rather than against it. Fertility is viewed as a reality to live, not a problem to be solved.
