Homo Radio
Homo Radio is a GLBT radio show hosted by Sean McLaughlin every week on WRPI. The show

Student Support
Rensselaer Pride Alliance
The Rensselaer Pride Alliance is a student run organization at Rensselaer. Its purpose is to provide
support and advocacy for all gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgender, questioning, and Allies within the
Rensselaer Community. It tries to increase positive awareness of the GLBT community by hosing
speakers, movies, and participating in festivals such as coming out week and AIDS awareness week. It
also provides educational information on issues concerning the GLBT community as a means to help
stop heterosexism.
Anyone can join the pride alliance! Whether you’re Straight, Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual or Transgender, all
are welcome to join.

The CDGLCC is the oldest continuously operated Gay and Lesbian Community Center in the United
States. The Center serves as a meeting place. The center houses the Rainbow Café, The Romaine
Brooks Art Gallery, an informal living area for socializing, a library, a backyard garden, offices and
meeting rooms.

The Safety Zone is a safe place for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth. It provides a drop in
center, peer support, HIV education, group activities, and referrals to community resources.
A calendar of events is posted on the window outside the building. Email or call for specific events such
as open mic poetry night, women’s night, men’s night and movie night.

The Women’s Building is a community center for women, providing cultural, social, and educational
activities including referrals, support groups, movies, dances, conferences, workshops and speakers. It
has a library, bulletin board, calendar of events and space for women of diverse backgrounds to meet
and network. A reference center includes binders of job listings, housing and support groups. Full
membership is open to all women.

The Damien Center of Troy features a “Living Room” where guests are welcome to relax, socialize or talk
with trained volunteers. People living with HIV/AIDS who visit the center say it provides a nonjudgmental and accepting atmosphere where they feel at home and comfortable. The Damien Center is
a program of Troy Area United Ministries (TAUM).
The Damien Center of Troy is co-located with the Troy Office of the AIDS Council of Northeastern NY
which is staffed by a social worker to provide counseling, referrals and case management.
The Damien Center of Troy offers dinner every Monday, lunch every Thursday, a variety of support
groups, current HIV/AIDS Information, a monthly dinner on the second Saturday of each month (except
June, July and August) and transportation to Thursday lunches and Saturday dinners.

by loved ones – each commemorating the life of someone who has died from AIDS.
The NAMES Project – Capital Region Chapter is committed to (1) providing a creative means for
remembering and healing, (2) increasing public awareness of the AIDS epidemic and (3) promoting
HIV/AIDS prevention and education.
Chapter Activities include quilt displays and community outreach to promote AIDS understanding and
