Press Release For Worldwide Release: May 29, 2009 Release Number: EEPR0309 Caterpillar Introduces Extended Oil Drain Intervals for Diesel Standby Generator Sets rated from 200 kW to 5.3 MW (Peoria, IL) - Demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility, Caterpillar Inc. announced today that customers enrolled in a Customer Support Agreement (CSA) with their local Cat® dealer will have the option to extend oil drain intervals for diesel standby generator sets, rated from 200 kW to 5.3MW (or models C9 through 3616). “Extended oil drain intervals can reduce approximately 4.5 million gallons of waste oil annually,” said Kevin Benz of Caterpillar Electric Power Division. “Expanding this program to include C9 through 3616 standby generator sets demonstrates our efforts to develop long-term solutions for Cat generator set customers in terms of both operating costs and sustainable practices.” The optional extended oil drain interval for C9 through 3616 diesel standby generator sets is three years or the operating hours recommended in the Caterpillar operation and maintenance manual – whichever occurs first. This option is available to customers whose diesel standby generator set is enrolled in a participating Cat dealer CSA that includes the following: use of distillate diesel fuel, Cat diesel engine oils, engine oil filters, fuel filters, air filters, diesel engine coolant and SOSSM Services fluids analysis, as well as monthly engine operation. Extending oil drain intervals requires close consultation with the participating Cat dealer and strict adherence to Caterpillar guidelines to protect the generator set performance. Caterpillar is helping to lead the power generation market place with power systems engineered to deliver unmatched flexibility, expandability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The company offers worldwide product support, with parts and service available globally through the Cat service and dealer network.
