Packet Tracer 4.0 Activity: Lab 4.1.6 Using CDP Commands - Solution
Objective

Use CDP to obtain information about neighboring Cisco devices.

Display information on how CDP is configured for its advertisement and discovery frame
transmission.

Disable CDP on an interface and globally on the router.
Scenario
This topology represents a basic routed network with two locations.
Required Files
To complete this lab, you will need the following files.


Familiarize yourself with PT 4.0 help menu, in case you have questions. Open
4.1.6_UsingCDPCommands.pka and follow the Instructions, which are repeated below:
Act:
Step 1 Display the values of the CDP timers, the interface status and encapsulation used.
a. Enter show cdp interface at the GAD router cli prompt.
b. How often is the router sending CDP packets? every 60 seconds

What is the holdtime value? 180 seconds
d. Global CDP settings can be seen using the show cdp by itself.

Step 4 Disable CDP on selected interfaces and globally on a router.
a. For security reasons CDP should advertisements should not be sent out interfaces that do not
connect to other Cisco devices. Prevent the sending of advertisements on the FastEthernet
interfaces on both routers.

d. Disable CDP globally on both routers.
