Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator Certification

Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator Certification
The Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) certification is designed for professionals who implement,
manage, and troubleshoot existing network and system environments based on Microsoft Windows® 2000
platforms, including Windows .NET Server. Implementation responsibilities include installing and configuring
parts of the systems. Management responsibilities include administering and supporting the systems.
The typical MCSA supports hundreds to thousands of users at 2 to 100 physical locations. Typical network
services and resources include messaging, database, file and print, proxy server or firewall, Internet and
intranet, remote access, and client computer management. Connectivity needs include connecting branch
offices and individual users at remote locations to the corporate network and connecting corporate networks to
the Internet.
MCSA Meets Industry Needs
Demand for qualified professionals who can perform the network administration job function has grown
significantly, and candidates as well as the IT industry have indicated that a certification for this job function is
needed. Studies show that network and design administrators at IT companies have significant advancement
opportunities—more than most other job categories.
The MCSA credential offers IT professionals a competitive edge in today’s constantly changing business
environment. This Microsoft credential validates the specific skills required for the network and systems
administrator job role. The certification provides employers with a means to identify those qualified individuals
who have the appropriate skills set to do the job successfully.
Value of MCSA Certification
The MCSA credential provides professionals with an opportunity to show that they have the skills necessary to
successfully implement, manage, and troubleshoot the ongoing needs of Windows 2000 based platforms,
including Windows .NET Server.
