Completion of work-study brochure through
the work of Sharon Welsh and the Federal
Relations Committee: This piece has been
used to create awareness in Congress as to
the benefits of the Federal Work-Study
Program.
Implementation of the Career Center on
NSEA’s Web site: NSEA teamed with Job
Target to develop a site for employers to
post professional job positions related to the
student employment arena. This added
service for NSEA members and others in the
student employment field also added a new
revenue source for the association.
Completion of annual survey by the Federal
Relations Committee: Our response rate
improved to 166 from 112 in the previous
year, and also increased from 41 to 45 states
represented.
Created a new grant program through the
generous support of UPS: Five grants, each
in the amount of $500, were awarded to
institutions to assist in starting a Student
Employee of the Year Program on their
campuses.
SEE Training
More than 200 student employment professionals
attended Student Employment Essentials Training in
2006. SEE Training is a wonderful opportunity for
those new to the profession, as well as a great
refresher for seasoned veterans.

Highlights of 2006
Chris Lauer, St. John's University (Minnesota) was
selected as the 2006 MASEA Student Employee of
the Year. He was also named the 2006 NSEA
Student Employee of the Year.
MASEA was pleased to participate in two
conferences during 2006. The annual MASEA
regional conference held in May focused on
technology uses within the student employment
setting. We were also proud to be a co-host for the
annual NSEA conference held in Kansas City in
October with 129 attendees (82 MASEA members).
SEE Training was offered prior to the conference
with 34 attending Track A and 37 attending Track
B.
Work on our new state representative system and
recruitment strategies was finalized resulting in an
increase in membership. In addition, the new
MASEA website was unveiled and our newsletter,
The MASEA Monitor, received a facelift and is now
being printed and distributed both hard copy and
electronically to members. Currently, efforts are
being directed toward compiling and distributing a
membership directory to all current members.

Cause, Effect & growth
As one can see one of the major hurdles that the
WASEA has faced for the last two years is the steady
decline in our membership. After much deliberation
we believe we know the cause and the effect is oh so
evident. However, the new board challenge is to put
into place a strategy that will increase membership
and create a new website that will help with this goal.
2006 Annual Report

 Publication of 3 newsletters to the web
 Development of a Professional Development Warehouse on our website
 Scanning of archives into digital format for easier storage and maintenance
 Our conference was attended by 60 members
 Creation of membership survey for distribution to membership
