Character Analysis:
An author creates characters that we laugh with, cry over, enjoy or even hate by letting us see or hear







their physical descriptions or characteristics.
what the character says that makes him / her an individual.
what the character does that makes him / her an individual.
what the character thinks or feels that makes him / her unique.
the characters name and the relationships that are important to him / her.
what other characters say to or about him / her.
how other characters react to him / her.
We get to meet these characters in the pages of a poem, story or novel. A reader’s job is to use these
clues to make the characters “real” as we read.
It is your job to create a wanted poster for a character in the novel. Below you will find the
requirements of your task.
DIRECTIONS:
You will make a “Wanted” poster for a character in The Outsiders for which you have evidence that
he/she has shown acts of heroism, loyalty or rivalry.
LOYALTY: Faithfulness to a person or group; devotion; having a sense of duty to someone.
*Within a “group”
RIVALRY: Competition or action against an opposing group/individual; antagonism; jealousy
*Between two “groups”
There is sometimes a fine distinction between both and how perception plays a role!
