JOB DESCRIPTION Post Title: Befriending Service Project Leader 15 hours per week Salary: £25,000 pro rata Responsible to: Welfare and Grants Officer We are looking for a caring, responsible, organised and enthusiastic person with experience of working with older people to project lead our new telephone befriending service and organise garden visits for our retired Queen’s Nurses and welfare clients. This is a part time post funded for 2 years and is based in the QNI office in London. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 1. Develop, project manage and monitor the QNI telephone befriending service from inception. Duties include: Developing policies and procedures including health and safety legislation and good practice Establishing and managing systems and confidential records. Facilitating all aspects of the befriending relationship and manage the day to day running of the service – e.g. processing referrals, completing client assessments, and very importantly matching volunteers with clients Recruiting, training, managing and motivating volunteers Maintaining regular contact with clients and volunteers Monitoring and evaluating the scheme Processing volunteer expense forms 2. To arrange garden visits for clients and befrienders This will follow on from the befriending service once it is established and initially will involve two garden visits per year. Oct 2015/…..P1 3. Monitoring Maintain clear and accurate records and produce all documentation to a high standard. Record all data including all clients’ opinions of the service to enable the QNI to monitor the progress of the scheme and evaluate its overall effectiveness. Ensure that the organisation is informed on all matters relating to the scheme providing monthly reports to the Welfare and Grants Officer for QNI Council meetings. Attend relevant meetings as required by the Welfare and Grants Officer. 4. Training Undertake such training as required and assist in training volunteers. An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be undertaken for the befriending project manager and all befrienders. Appraisal Formal appraisal will occur yearly when there will be an opportunity to review and revise the job description, at which time any changes in the level of responsibility or duties associated with the post can be discussed. Some work outside normal office hours may be required, with occasional travel to events. No overtime is payable but time off in lieu may be taken by agreement with the Welfare and Grants Officer.
