Sarah Field - Hume – Flagship branch open – two years of planning and construction. Rolling out

RFID – tagged in ten weeks (200,000+). Rolled out across four branches. Will be investigating a new LMS this coming financial year.

Sara Wisnia - Moonee Valley – starting tagging on Monday – plan to tag over 10 weeks. Having trouble with FE and support through the implementation process. Reorganising branches and new shelving, weeding etc to get ready for this. Have subscribed to Zinio and Lifelong. Have purchased 6 Kindles, iPads and Sony readers for eBook project – for borrowers to be able to play with in the library – still working on, may allow users to take them home. Will be having more formal e-devices sessions to help people out.

Kenneth Harris - Port Phillip – Implemented self-serve at St Kilda – 85% now but aiming at 100%.

Have smart bin and security games now operational (for the first time in years). Also with FE.

Launched new website – have been doing all their own editing. October start renovating South

Melbourne library and heritage centre. Have bought a whole bunch of devices for staff to play with. Approved stage 3 for RFID at the rest of the libraries, upgrading internet infrastructure, voice devices for staff in next budget. Have implemented all Library Thing widgets. Cashless – no fines.

Jack Chan & Les Firth - Yarra Plenty – acquired 10 iPads and are running weekly workshops – users can bring their own in to help with – been running a few weeks now – between 5 and 10 regulars as well as others. Getting out of Your Tutor. Going to use Yammer on a commercial basis, offer a substantial discount for non-profits. Looking at a complete review of how they use wifi – need more bandwidth, issues with logins and printing and how they work with other devices and staff machines. Looking at VM ware for a lot of these. Installing a after hours chute at Eltham which will only open to RFID tags. End of contract period so looking at new RFID security gates in

September.

John Crennan - Wyndham – Soft launch of eBooks next week with Wheelers – starting with 700 titles. Will soon go with Bolinda e-audio. Started with Collection HQ – set-up has helped them streamline their collection management, but will still need to admin their collection as it doesn't connect deep into their LMS. If other libraries in Victoria come on board, you will be able to compare data from these libraries. Trialling FE's smart shelves for organising self-serve holds - will organise for a morning tea for others to come and check it out. Have over-run monthly bandwidth limits on public PCs, so looking at what they can do.

Dianna Hodkinson - Melbourne – bought a range of devices for downloading their Overdrive eBooks for staff training. Giving staff experiences across a range of different devices. All for user support. Hope to run tech sessions for the public. Southbank Library opening officially 7 th July – soft opening on 2 nd July – small library which shares space with Australian Book Review mag, art studios and more. Have wifi, four public PCs and some RFID kiosks. It will be using bookshop style categorisation rather than Dewey. 207 City Road. Doing technology planning for Docklands, which is due to open late 2013 – no public computing but will have wireless throughout and lots of interactive technology – including gaming zone and surface table, will also be a heritage centre. Carlton Library planned for 2014 – shared community facility.

Lidya Kordic - Brimbank – recent upgrade of Pharos server and installed new FE payment kiosks.

Only for printing at moment, but in future for fines payment and will include EFTPOS. Recently launched Bolinda. Looking at installing a discovery layer – VuFind over the top of their AmLib

LMS. Looking at purchasing iPads and eBook readers etc for staff first, then public. Sydenham

Library now incorporates Council customer service centre, so have a lot less staff space. Starting

Michelle McLean - Casey-Cardinia – Lifelong Learning has had a slow start, but we are happy with the product and will continue with it whilst the trial ends, at least until next financial year, looking at starting with, Wheeler eBooks, Enterprise upgrade improved performance but still don’t know if its enough for us to use it as our OPAC, QR Codes are being used on shelf-talkers to promote electronic services and on events posters linking to our online bookings, using

Eventbrite for all event bookings - so far so good, website upgrade to Drupal 7 CMS hopefully later this year.

Peter Conge - Greater Dandenong – Debt collection instituted. Getting more new online services, but having some problems with Council firewall issues. New website being developed – changing things on the fly as they get public comments on the old one – will go live in new financial year. Getting surface table.
