Washington and Lee University LEXINGTON, Va., — Matthew Reichel of Hagaman, a member of the class of 2017 at Washington and Lee University, earned honor roll status for the fall 2014 semester.Honor roll status at Washington and Lee represents a term grade-average of at least 3.75 on a 4.0 scale. Coastal Carolina University CONWAY, S.C. — Allison Craig of Fonda has made the president’s list at Coastal Carolina University for the fall 2014 semester. Craig is majoring in health promotion. George Mason University FAIRFAX, Va. — Marshall Hildreth, a student at FondaFultonville Central High School was selected to represent New York as a national youth delegate to the 2015 Washington Youth Summit on the Environment at George Mason University. Hildreth joins a select group of 250 students from across the country to participate in an intensive study week-long of leadership in environmental science and conservation. Hildreth was chosen based on academic accomplishments and a demonstrated interest and excellence in leadership in the sciences and conservation studies. George Mason University and its partners National Geographic and the National Zoo will welcome the nation's youth scholars to Washington, D.C. from June 28 to July 3. SUNY Cortland CORTLAND — The following students were named to the dean’s list at SUNY Cortland for the fall 2014 semester. • Brandon Schrom of Amsterdam, an exercise science major. The Upper Montgomery County Retired Teachers' Association FORT PLAIN — The Upper Montgomery County Retired Teachers' Association will offer its annual scholarship award to a qualifying high school senior who will pursue a career in teaching. The single scholarship will be $500. It is open to any senior in the Canajoharie, Fonda-Fultonville, Fort Plain or Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville central school districts who will be entering his/her freshman year in an accredited educational institution with an intent to enter the teaching profession. Applications for this scholarship will be available through the guidance departments of the above-mentioned systems. Completed applications must be returned to the scholarship no later than April 30. The Zonta Club of Montgomery-Fulton Counties The Zonta Club of Montgomery-Fulton Counties is sponsoring the 2015 Zonta Education Award. This $250 award is given to high school students continuing their education at a post secondary level, and may be used at any university, college or institute offering accredited courses and degrees. Applicants must be residents of Fulton or Montgomery counties, be graduating from high school this year with an overall GPA of a B+ or greater (transcripts are required), and undertaking a degree at an accredited college, university or institute. Successful candidates will demonstrate initiative, ambition and commitment to pursuing further education, as well as achievement in non-academic settings, such as sports, community service, mentoring, etc. Consideration will be given to female applicants. The application deadline is April 1, 2015. Austin named human resources director Liberty recently announced the appointment of Lisa A. Austin as its human resources director. In this position, she will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and execution of the agency’s human resources and leadership development initiatives. Austin joins Liberty from the Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York as its chief strategy officer. Austin has also served as director of human resources at the Whitney M. Young AUSTIN Jr. Health Services and ValueOptions, Inc., and the Capital District YMCA. She has more than 21 years of administration and human resources experience. “I am looking forward to being a part of Liberty’s leadership team and making professional contributions to this organization, whose mission, values and vision resonate with me both personally and professionally,” said Austin.
