Introduction to Microsoft Excel for Business Applications
Business 43B, Codes 24125 (Lecture) and 24126 (Laboratory)

Knowledge of basic mathematics skills and working knowledge of PC-compatible
computer.
Course Description:
Introduction to spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel Windows version on the PC with
emphasis on business application programs. Calculations using functions and formulas;
modify, change, and format cell entries; save, retrieve, and print a worksheet. Includes
linking and consolidating spreadsheets, creating charts, working with database features,
and the use of macros.

Parsons, Oja, Ageloff, and Carey. New Perspectives on Microsoft Excel 2013—
Comprehensive Edition. ISBN 978-1-305-75518-5 or 978-1-305-57593-6.
Required Supplies:
1 Flash Drive (USB drive) (recommended)
Scantron Answer Sheets (Form 882). Only one will be needed for the FINAL EXAM.
Grading Policy:
Classwork (60%) + Tests (40%) = Course Grade
Note: All materials must be MAILABLE. All materials will be graded on quality of work,
business English, spelling, placement of document.
Scale: A=4 points, B=3 points, C=2 points, D=1 point
4.0 – 3.5 = A = 100 – 90
3.4 – 2.9 = B = 89 – 80
2.8 – 1.9 = C = 79 – 70
1.8 – 0.9 = D = 69 – 60
below 0.9 = F = below 60
Attendance Policy: Students that do not log in regularly to review Tutorial Materials and to submit assignments
weekly could have their overall course grade reduced a grade level
Withdrawal:
It is the responsibility of the student to withdraw (drop)
from a class.

TESTING DEFINITIONS
Theory Tests: Usually True & False, Multiple Choice or Combined True & False & Multiple Choice.
Theory test are
closed-book only.
Production Tests: Production tests will allow students to use the textbook and class notes only to create or update a
file based on certain instructions.
