Develop a Business Idea and Draft Business Plan Step 1. It’s time now to get into groups of 4-5 students in order to come together and develop a Business Idea and a draft a number of components of a Business Plan. Step 2. Choose a team leader Step 3. Select an industry listed below (Assigned by lecturer. Only one team per industry) Step 4. Teams to select a specific business within the chosen industry (List below) Step 5. Teams to assign roles, i.e. who will present each section of the Draft. Expectations are for each student in each team to at least discuss one component of their business plan. Overall, the team presentation should go for around 15 minutes. Step 6. Students will receive Presentation Paper and markers to write up their answers. Step 7. Preparation for the Presentation is 1 hour - Answer the questions at the end of this paper. Step 8. Each Student will present a section of the Business Plan Step 9. Students are to present their business plans to the class. They need to convince the audience (of which are fictional investors) why their business is fundamentally sound. List the opportunities for your business. Market Research What information will you need to collect about your market? How will you collect this information? What external factors could affect your target market? Briefly describe the size of the market and the potential for growth. Describe your target market and customers. Describe some of the customer needs related to your idea that exist within the market. Identifying resource requirements List and describe the premises, buildings, facilities, vehicles and equipment you will need to operate your business. How many employees will your business require and what roles will they fill? Marketing the business What advertising and promotional strategies are you going to use to attract customers? Describe your pricing strategy and explain why you have chosen this approach. How will you distribute your products effectively in the market?
