Nellie Pauline (Wyerman)
Wolverton, who preceded
her in death. She married
Robert Eugene Dodd on Feb.
3, 1943, in Davenport, and
he preceded her in death on
Oct. 7, 2001.
Elladean and Robert
began married life in
Davenport, where their
first two children were
born. They then moved to
Hannibal, Mo., where two
more children were born.
They returned to Davenport
in the early 1950s and made
their home there until retiring
and moving to Unionville in
1987. In addition to being
a housewife and mother,
Elladean worked at Crescent
Macaroni (making cookies) and Davenshire, where
she was a seamstress. But
“Granny” (as everyone knew
her) never really retired.
She worked at Dunlap in
Unionville and then found
great joy in working with the
after-school program (SOAR)
at Putnam County R-1 and
at Happy Hearts Day Care,
two jobs she had until she
passed away. Elladean was
also a person of varied interests who liked to do plastic
canvas needlework, read
romance novels, travel to the
mountains, attend and follow
NASCAR races, and cheer
on the St. Louis Cardinals
baseball team.
Granny is survived by two
sons, Bobby Dodd and wife
Karen, Warsaw, Mo., and
Clayton Dodd and wife Betty,
Davenport; two daughters,
Nellie Shipley and husband
Richard of Unionville,
and Sharon Eubanks of
Davenport; grandchildren,
Elladean Shipley, Elizabeth
Eubanks, Brian Shipley,
Shane Dodd, Robbie Dodd
and Amy Eubanks-Donnelly;
14 great-grandchildren; five
great-great-grandchildren;
(with two on the way); three

He was the son of the late

two wives, Jackie Durlacher
and Peggy Maley. He is survived by one sister, Norma

Jim was a WWII Air Force
veteran. He received his
Doctorate of Chiropractic
in 1963 from the renowned
Palmer College of
Chiropractic in Iowa and
maintained a successful
practice for 47 years in
West Liberty, Iowa; Wilton,
Iowa; Primghar, Iowa, and
Mesa Arizona. He utilized
a holistic approach with
his clients and specialized in energy medicine
and energy psychology
since the 1960s. Dr. Jim
Durlacher was a published
author and international
lecturer. He was a member of the advisory board
of the Association for
Comprehensive Energy
Psychology and other
numerous professional
associations throughout his
career. He was a Diplomate
of the International College
of Applied Kinesiology.
