2 Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce July 2008
Chairman's Letter by Paul Buchholz
I
t is that time of year again when the thermometer continues to climb, the kids are free
from homework for a few months and we can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors with many
fun activities.
I recently attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Falling Waters Trail and I began to
think of the positive effect it would have on the Jackson Community. There is no doubt
in my mind that this is a significant investment for our community. I have witnessed numerous people using the trail and in addition to enjoying the beautiful surroundings and
scenery, they are becoming more physically and mentally fit.

Party Politics
The Jackson community will get the chance to mingle with political candidates and
have their voices heard on several key issues less than a week prior to the November
4 election.
The Greater Jackson Chamber of Commerce is pleased to host Party Politics on
Thursday, October 30 from 5-8 p.m. at Gene Davis & Sons Banquet Center, 3575
Francis St. The format is that of an “old time” political rally and more than 500 Jackson residents are expected to attend. In keeping with past tradition, a mock election will be held for those races
with broad interest and participants will get a chance to vote on any statewide proposals.
The Chamber will invite all candidates running for U.S. Senate & House Seats, State Senate & House seats,
Circuit Judge, Probate Judge, County Commissioners and JCC Board of Trustees to participate.
Candidates will not give speeches during the event, but will be on hand to talk to voters. At the end of the evening,
voting will be tabulated and announced.
