Updating Naviance College lists and decision types change please keep your naviance accounts as up-todate as possible. Remove colleges you are no longer interested in applying to. All school forms and Naviance should match identically in order to limit error and confusion. Make sure your colleges are listed on both Naviance and The Common Application. Complete the privacy notice on your Common Application Account – Once completed this cannot easily be changed, Match your Common Application and Naviance accounts. (Tutorial provided in prior correspondence)/ Make sure you have correctly entered the decision plan properly on BOTH accounts. Common Application Tip: Do not use the “additional information” section to compose another essay. This area of your application should be a bullet pointed list. Information in this section may include: testing plans, transcript concerns, unusual family circumstances. 2. Tracking submitted documents- Paper receipts are placed in the student mail boxes that indicate the date that your documents have been submitted to colleges this also includes the teacher recommendations. Counselors are submitting the teacher’s letters and students will NOT be able to track this from Naviance. Teacher letters can later be tracked from The Common Application side. Colleges will also have status pages where students may check the status of their applications. This process will vary from college to college. Please note it can take colleges several weeks to post documents as received by the college. In most cases the documents that complete a college application arrive at colleges from multiple sources: Student Teacher Counselor Testing center These documents may arrive at the college at different times. Please be patient with this process. 3. SUNY Documents - For students who used the SUNY application we will be sending those documents electronically via the SUNY website. In order for this to be possible students must complete part 1 of the online SUNY application. This includes submission of payment for your campus choices. Until part 1 is completed it is NOT possible for the counselors to upload and send any documents to SUNY. IF YOU INDICATED ON YOUR PINK HSAS TRANSCRIPT REQUEST FORM THAT YOU ARE USING THE SUNY APPLICATION THE COUNSELORS WILL OBTAIN YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS FROM YOUR TEACHERS AND SUBMIT THEM TO SUNY THROUGH THE SUNY WEBSITE. SUNY Supplements - Once you complete part 1 of the SUNY online application you will be contacted by the individual SUNY campuses regarding completion of the supplements. You can also go to the SUNY website to find all of the required supplements for each SUNY campus. If it indicates that the college accepts the SUNY form than it is one form that is filled out and accepted by multiple campuses. If the list says campus form than that from is unique to an individual campus. Keep in mind that the same information is typically being requested regardless of the form. http://www.suny.edu/attend/apply-to-suny/supplemental-applications/ (link to supplements) Question??? Should I use the SUNY application or the Common Application?? This decision will ultimately be up to you. Some students find it easier to use the SUNY application and then download the supplements from the SUNY website. Some students prefer the Common Application because many of the other colleges that they are applying to are on the Common Application. 4. Forms Transcript request/ teacher recommendation request forms are located in the main office and in the guidance office. The forms may also be printed from the school website. 5. Testing information –PLEASE NOTE: As of today 11/3/15 we have NOT received the October test scores form College Board. ACT scores from September are trickling in very slowly. Students applying early should contact colleges directly with any delays or problems with test scores. You may also list this information in the additional information section of your Common Application. 6.
