Episcopal School of Acadiana, founded in 1979, seeks a dynamic educator to serve as the
Chaplain for our Middle and Upper Schools. ESA is the diocesan school of The Diocese of
Western Louisiana and welcomes students of all faiths, and a wide variety of socio-economic,
ethnic, racial, and personal/family backgrounds. ESA is a coed day school serving students from
PK3 through 12th grade. We are a diverse community with a simple mission: to instill the habits
of scholarship and honor in our students and challenge them to develop intellectually, spiritually
and physically. Our school motto is “Excellence from Within,” and that motto is lived out every
day in our community. ESA seeks a full-time chaplain for our Cade campus (6th-12th grade) to
advance our educational and spiritual mission, but we are also looking for a dynamic school
community leader whose reach will extend beyond the chapel and the classroom. We seek
someone to embrace the school’s mission and creativity and to support and minister to students,
parents, faculty, administrators, and staff from a variety of backgrounds.
A member of the School’s administrative team, the Chaplain reports directly to the
Headmaster. The Chaplain’s primary responsibilities include:




Leading the spiritual life of the school through our chapel program,
Teaching courses in religious studies,
Joining our flourishing community service program, and
Working with our Lower School Chaplain to enhance our Episcopal identity.
We are seeking an educator with personal and pastoral warmth, a deep commitment to
independent school education, demonstrated leadership experience, and a strong, persuasive
communicator. An independent school background/experience is desirable. Episcopal School of
Acadiana will conduct this search in cooperation with the Bishop of the Diocese of Western
Louisiana, and preference will be given to candidates who are ordained in the Episcopal Church.
