When was the information published? Has information
been updated? Is it out of date for your topic?
Not for loan: Reference, Reserved, nor Periodicals.
RELEVANCE: the importance of the information
Does the information relate to your topic or answer
your question? Who is the intended audience?
AUTHORITY: the source of the information
Who is the author? Are credentials given? Is there
contact information? Does the URL reveal anything
about the author or source? (.edu– educational
.gov-US government)
Lost, damaged, or overdue materials: Students
will be charged the cost of the book. Failure to
return materials or pay for lost or damaged items
will result in loss of library privileges and the placing of holds on student accounts and services.

ACCURACY: the reliability and correctness
Where does the information come from? Is it supported
by evidence? Has the information been reviewed? Is it
free from bias or emotion? Any spelling or grammatical
errors?
PURPOSE: the reason the information exists
What is the purpose of the information: to inform,
teach, sell, entertain, or persuade? Is the information
fact, opinion, or propaganda? Are there political,
ideological, cultural, or personal biases?
