The workshops are made affordable due to the support of the Isle of Man Arts Council and are brought to you specially to celebrate Island of Culture 2014! All workshops begin at 10am and finish at 4pm, please see separate sheet for dates and times! All materials are provided, please bring along your own protective clothing! Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided throughout the day, however you will need to bring your own pack lunch or use the cafe facilities at Tynwald Mills. Watercolour - Georgia O’Keefe Floral Studies - ‘Red Cana’ and ‘Oriental Poppies’ in detail Learn about Georgia O’Keefe and look at examples of her art work. Choose to study one out of two of her paintings, a piece to base your own work. After an introduction to water colour painting and following a demonstration, from a simple sketch, learn how to build up your water-colour painitng using layers of paint. Using ‘Study of Sea: Stormy sky’ work on your own semi-abstract work and learn to manipulate water based paint to create your own masterwork! Perfect for beginners and improvers! Lino Printmaking: Pattern Making Learn the basics of Lino Printmaking with this beginners workshop. Learn to carve the lino using basic patterns you have created from the source material provided. Learn what to carve out and what to leave behind and how to ink up and print your plate! Perfect for beginners! Modern Printmaking (gelli plate and other mono printmaking surface) An exciting new addition to our series of workshops, you will look at contemporary printmaking artists and build up layers of pattern using gelli plates and other mono printing plate surfaces. Learn to produce an original print and experiment with patterns, layers and textures. Acrylic Painting - William Turner’s ‘Snow Storm’ Paint your own original masterpiece based on the work ‘Snow Storm’ by William Turner. You will be given an introduction and short biography of one of Britains most famous artists and look at examples of Turner’s work.
