ECO 216: Principles of Macroeconomics

1. GENERAL INFORMATION

2. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This is an introductory macroeconomic theory and policy course. It covers the determinants of national income, economic growth, inflation and unemployment, business cycles,
fiscal and monetary policy, the financial system, financial crises, and an introduction to
various aspects of the international economy.
2. EXAMINATION:
There will be a midterm exam on xxxxxx in class and a final exam. The midterm exam
counts for 35% of the grade and the final exam for 40% of the grade. There will also be
problem sets which count for 25% of the grade. The problem sets will be posted on the
classesv2 server.
3. READING MATERIAL:
The course textbook is: MACROECONOMICS by N. Gregory Mankiw, 8th edition.
